Hi I'm searching for a new flight system. My question is

what would you prefer. Ch products pedals, throttle and MSFFB2,

or Logitech G940 flight system ?

Posted

You should easily guess my answer by comparing the components and prices:

technology_155a_001.jpg

all together about 300€

or

CH_Pedals_side.jpg (about 130€)

+

CH_Throttle_top_1.jpg(about 130€)

+

ff2.jpg(about 100€ at ebay when in good shape)

You got my answer ??! :joystick:

You would prefer the logitech system, right ?

It's like that:

I could get a MSFFB2 for 40€ in nice condition.

Rudder pedals at ebay faround 80€

and throttle around 80€.

G940 from USA would be around 200/220€.

The price would be basically the same.

But I don't know which has better quality.

The logitech seems to have more function but

ch pedals and throttle look very robust.

Well I think I will take the g940.

The joystick will fit better in a small simchair

and also has this new ministick on it.

Splithrottle and green/red/off buttons.

Thanks for helping with the decision :)

Mind that the MSFFB2 has no programmability under xp and vista whatsoever.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Another con.

You convinced me to the G940 ;-)

@Peter: The youtube video is amazing x'D

Wonderful...

I have both only because of FFB & split throttle. If thats important to you, then logitech. If not CH is very good. You can always get help at the CH forum, not so much at logitech that I've seen. Also if your wanting it for BS it has almost nothing for FFB, hope that might change. Just my opinion.

Forgot one more maybe important thing...hand size. My hand is on the small side of medium, & 940 is about right. CH fighter stick is much better suited for a large hand IMO. Just something to consider. Good luck.

Migo, I like the G940, but haven't had a CH stick. The G940 seems sturdy but the test will be a few years down the line. You should know that currently, the buttons on the throttle base do NOT glow any color but green. You have to download a SDK and do some work to change their color. I haven't bothered myself.

Theoretically games in the future will incorporate the color changing, or it'll be easier to do yourself. That's my hope at least.

Ok for now I have the MSFFB2 and also got a CH throttle.

I already bought the MSFFB2 and wanted to sell it for a higher price because I got it so cheap but I tested it and the joystick is awesome, it's big but the force feedback of it is really amazing, there is no way to compare it with the saitek cyborg force joystick I had before and I don't think the "small" g940 stick is able to generate such force feedback power. Then I saw a ch throttle on ebay and got it for ~50€. So that's really cool, will buy pedals later ;-)

What I have been reading about the G940 is that the force feedback is really strong and that is why it has the dead mans grip so it does not jump of the table.

Really ? Hm yea, maybe I have to google how this forcefeedback really works, I know there are motors but, yea, I'll digg a little bit deeper =)

Migo, the G940 has incredibly strong force feedback. The calibration process also sets off force feedback testing, and it nearly shook my cheap IKEA desk apart during extended testing. That's at 100% force feedback, and you can jack it up to 150% in the control panel. I don't know why you think it's got weak force feedback!

The software still has a bug or two and could always use a bit of improvement though :) It currently hard-crashes a few of our computers when the shift-button is enabled.

I didn't say it's weak my thought was that it's not as strong as the Msffb2 force feedback.

I just got my G940 today and I have only plugged it in and tried black shark just to get the feeling. I have one question though. I could not feel any force feedback from the rotors or when I fired rockets, ATGM, not even when I crashed. Is something wrong or is my expectations to high? I even cranked it up to 150% force. When I calibrated the stick and pressed some buttons (I think it was on the throttle) the stick moved with plenty of force from left to right.

Kirai, did you check to see if the file Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\Producer.cfg had ForceFeedbackEnabled = true?

I don't have a G940 but I have an msFFB2, there are no forces when you fire (any weapon) or when you crash. What the FFB does in DCS:BS only has to do with trim.

Yes I have checked that and its "true"

oh is that so? A little dissapointment in the air, I mean I have my stick between my legs tightened to my flightchair so I hoped to get to feel some vibration through the chair itself from rotors or gunfire. I mean in a real helicopter I guess you must feel some vibration and the cannon I know for sure must give some vibration in the helicopter.

To the helicopter, yes. But not to the flight controls, as they are hydraulically boosted and have practically no feedback in normal flight (so i was told).

Yeah you might be right. I know this is tha fact with our Swedish JAS 39 Gripen but I did not know that the KA-50 have the same thing I mean it's older then the JAS.

But anyways I think I should feel something if I did a hard landing or even a crashlanding.

Keep in mind that the Ka-50 weighs nearly 8 tons empty, no way are you going to stem the control forces with you bare hands. (i think someone said once on this forum that if the Mi-24 has a hydraulics failure, the stick starts to bounce around with enough force to break your bones).

I have 2 steel ropes connected tot he rotors and I pull'em with my hands to change collective :'D

Haha that would be cool.
