In my pint of view the ground crow will NOT repair your Ka-50 if only the laser is burned out.

You must have other damages that the groundcrew repair your Ka-50.

So if your laser is burned out, hit the ground at landing, so your gear will be damaged. This will force the repair of the Ka-50.

But the best way is -don't let the laser burn out- ;)

I accustom that I switch on the laser, only if I need it.

I switch to STANDBY after every hit on a target.

Edit: STANDBY is wrong! I mean OFF, sorry

Edit: Oh, sorry, I mean "OFF", not "STANDBY"...

At startup I let it OFF.

In the target-area I'm searching (without laser-range-measuring) for enemys.

Laser is still OFF.

If I have found a target I adjust the targetcurser and lock the target (TA) first before I switch the laser to STANDBY.

Then I switch to STANDBY and press "lock target" again to activate the laser and force the laser-range-measuring.

I'm waiting till the countdown is 0 (cooling down the laser) and fireing.

After impact I'm switching to OFF again and searching (without laser-range-measuring) for the next enemy.

I never had a burned out laser again, since I make it like this.

If you land and shut down your helo, you will be equipped with a new helo after 3 minutes or something. AFAIK this way all damages are repaired, including the laser.

Yes, but only if you HAVE any damages. And I think that a burned out laser is no "damage". You have to force the repairing by getting damaged e.g. by breaking the gear.

Anyway what to do to be repaired? i know you have to move radio to ground crew mode and do something with battery but forgot what. Then you are repaired too...

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

No, the conditions for reparing are:

- Landing on airport or FARP (with tent).

- Shut down your engines.

- Open the door. (I'm not sure if necessary)

You don't have to call the grew.

After max 3min (depending on the damages) you will get a complete new Ka-50. (No message like "you are repaired")

The switches are in defaultposition and you have to do the complete startup.

Your weapons and your fuel-level is the same as before repairing! So don't forget to rearm!

But IIRC someone fro Russian section mentioned about that you land, do something with batteries and something else, that you don't have to completely turn off your chopper.

Yes, you only have to turn off your engines (Cut-off-valves).

All the other system can be ON.

But nevermind, you will get a new helo and all the switches are in default position. So you have to do a complete startup.

I'm glad this topic has been brought up again, i believe many missions hosted online are possibly not setup correctly to allow clients to repair their laser.

I'll quote this info again:

"Eastern forces:

CP SKP-11 command post, FARP command post for radio communications

GPU APA-50 or GPU APA-80 for electrical power

ATMZ-5, ATZ-10, Transport URAL-375 or FARP Fuel Depot for refueling

URAL-375 transport or FARP Ammo Dump for rearming

UAZ-469, URAL-4320-31, URAL-4320T, ZIL-131 KUNG, KAMAZ, and FARP TENT for aircraft repair. Repairs take 3 minutes after rotors stop.

Western forces:

M1025 HMMWV APC for radio communications

M818 transport for electrical power

M978 HEMTT tanker for refueling

M818 transport for rearming

M818 and FARP TENT for aircraft repair. Repairs take 3 minutes after rotors stop."

I've noticed as long as these exact vehicles are placed in the mission, you'll have no problems repairing the laser, and this without no extra damage to your helo.

In a recent MP session, I burned out my laser. I landed at a FARP, shut down, and waited 3 minutes (well, more than 3, I'm assuming 3 is enough). No new helo. I started back up, and the laser was working. So if you burn out your laser, it WILL get repaired at the FARP, but you will NOT get a new helo, like you would for other damages.

Maybe the laser was cooled down enough and working again?

I don't know... I'm not ED!

I only can tell you my experiences. ;)

I just try to follow the time limits that way the laser does not burn out. Here are the time limits posted by Ulrich.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Never had that work. I can only get a new chopper if I am damaged.

Are you sure you didn't get a new helo? If you shut down completely (reset all buttons), you won't notice ;)

If you pay REAL close attention you might notice even then - I once noticed a small "bounce" as the helicopter was reset. Unfortunately I didn't have airframe damage at the time so I couldn't verify that that actually was a proper new helicopter, but my laser was fixed at least. :)

if you get a new chooper, the door is open.

Yeah, but that doesn't change anything for me since when landing on a FARP I usually open the door to get a better view.

I'll have to try it again to see, but make a note to not open the door. :P
