Chris CDN Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) Updated 21 January, 2009 Good day, After a couple of weeks of flying the Black Shark I decided to make the jump into multi-player last night. Sad thing is, I couldn't find any servers with more than one or two people on them. What I would like to do is get together with some other rookie KA-50 pilots and run some easy missions, or even just target practice and general tomfoolery. I propose we meet up on Eddies Teamspeak channel (which has been moved to Teamspeak 3 at the moment) at 2 PM EST (That's 1900Z or 1100 PST) on Sunday, the 24th of January. From there, we'll find a server with a few open spots, or set something up ourselves. Look forward to seeing some new faces there, and feel free to PM me if you're interested in hosting on your server or have any questions/comments. Cheers! Chris Edited January 21, 2010 by Chris CDN Updated date for current week. 2 NSDQ
gumball360 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I'll join you, Chris. Just got Black Shark for Christmas. And I think I finally got everything down! If I can make it, I'll meet you in TS. Hope to see some others in there as well.
Eddie Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I'd love to join you guys but unfortunately my ArmAII clan has it's weekly game at 1900Z on Sundays. Maybe next time. I hope you guys have a good flight.
Sabre-TLA Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I'll give it a whirl (so to speak) ;-) MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates
Chris CDN Posted January 10, 2010 Author Posted January 10, 2010 Just a shameless bump to remind people about this. We'll meet at 1900Z (1400 EST) on Eddie's TeamSpeak server and set something up from there. Everyone's welcome! NSDQ
Marge Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Joining OK registered on your Eddie's TS server, and I'll be on line this evening. :) I'm French and hoping that coms with english people will not be too difficult, as not practicing this language frequently. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MackTheKnight Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Registered and planning to attend. -Mack
Marge Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Sorry for yesterday, I was too late on TS (snow, cold and bad weather in south of France), so I just came ans seeing you were in flight, I quit. Perhaps another day... :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Sabre-TLA Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Reps to you Chris for organizing the event yesterday. I had great fun even though I crashed more than killed things. Getting that first kill was sweet however. I found my current rig to be slow on the 8 player mission but was purring along fine with 4 players. I hope to get a better video card soon (upgrade from an EN7800GTX). Can I count on another fun outing next Sunday? MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates
gumball360 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Sorry I was talking very much yesterday, guys. Besides being a little mic shy, I was trying to mess around with my settings to get it to run at a decent pace. I was probably hobbling along at 5 FPS the whole time...
Eddie Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Can I count on another fun outing next Sunday? I'm certainly up for getting together with you guys again for some more controlled chaos. I hope to have at least one of my mission projects completed by then as well so we can alway try that out as an alternative to the usual public server missions. I was probably hobbling along at 5 FPS the whole time... Ouch
gumball360 Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Yeah, but I'm just guessing. I didn't have a counter or anything, so it might have been more like 10 FPS or so. I can't really afford a new computer just yet, but I have plans for one in the summer. But until then, I'll be running a little slow...
HiJack Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I'l join in on the next gathering :D Rookie as well :P
Eddie Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Just to make sure you guys don't miss it, I've switched the TS server to Teamspeak 3. Just a bit of a trial at the moment, if it works out it'll stay if not it'll be back to TS2. But obviously you'll need to grab the TS3 client to connect. Also be sure to note that while the server IP is the same the port number has changed.
Made.In.China.00 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Damn, I missed this thread completely yesterday... Wish I've seen it. Any plan for next Sunday? 17th Jan
Chris CDN Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Thanks to all who attended, it was a good time despite the fact that I was upside down and on fire most of the time. I'll update the first post in this thread to reflect this coming Sunday's date as the next "Rookie meet-up". Same bat-time, same bat channel (albeit on Teamspeak 3). Eddie, is this going to have a conflict with your ARMA2 matches? I haven't been on too much as I seem to have had the infamous Launcher.exe fault after mistakenly overwriting my blackshark.lua file. I should have everything back up and running shortly. See you all on the field / at the FARP. We'll try to find a mission with a little less air-to-air and SAM assets. NSDQ
Eddie Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Eddie, is this going to have a conflict with your ARMA2 matches? Nope, TBH I'm losing interest in ArmA. See you all on the field / at the FARP. We'll try to find a mission with a little less air-to-air and SAM assets. Well, all being well I'll have at least one mission ready by Sunday, we'll just have to host it ourselves rather than jumping to a public server (which is much better anyway IMHO). The missions I'm currently working on have a more realistic profile rather than the airquake/right into the action type on most servers. Should not only be more enjoyable, but hopefully you'll spend much more time in the air and less time restarting and the FARP.
Sabre-TLA Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I especially liked the datalink uploads on targets and seeing where the wingmen are on ABRIS. I read another post where someone was complaining they were just flying by themselves. I am now addicted to multiplayer coop missions. Thanks Guys! Reps to you all! Eddie Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I am now addicted to multiplayer coop missions. Thanks Guys! Reps to you all! Careful, there is no known cure to this addiction, trust me. I've said it before and I'll say it again, online co-op is the ONLY way to fly.
Bolt Uprite Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Sounds coo ! Im in Alberta are you 2 or 3 hrs ahead time wise ? My mike crapped out but i will join the ts so people can yell at me .
HiJack Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Sounds coo ! Im in Alberta are you 2 or 3 hrs ahead time wise ? My mike crapped out but i will join the ts so people can yell at me . And I'm in Oslo, Norway so it will be a late night :music_whistling:
JD_LincsUK Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I am interested in coming along, but my knowledge is pretty basic at the moment. I've been concentrating on flying and basic use of ABRIS since I got BS a couple of weeks ago, whilst working my way through the not insubstantial manual. If the Shkval works pretty much the same as in FC, then I just have to learn the new keys (or set up an SST profile). Eddie Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 The more the merrier. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we'll happily help you along your way. I'll be around Friday and Saturday evening if anyone wants to fly then as well.
Chris CDN Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 I'll be around Friday and Saturday evening if anyone wants to fly then as well. I will most likely take you up on that kind offer. I need to test out my shiny new TrackIR setup. NSDQ
