Luke.S Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 First off sorry if this comes across as spammy but I am sure many people would admit that they would enjoy this. I know there is no chance of this ever happening but imagine if ED decided to make an Airwolf Module of DCS. I'm sure it would be a popular game as there are many people who enjoy airwolf. Imagine that. A squadron of Mig 25 Foxbats out on patrol over russia when suddenly they pick something strange up on radar. The leader tells the flight to intercept and see whether or not this object is a threat. What they (well actually they never have chance) find shocks them. They start to radio command until a small white object streaks out of the sky and smashes into the flight leader. The Foxbats take the defensive but slowly and one by one are picked off until only one remains. He manages to catch a glimpse of the aircraft which has shot down the fighters and is shocked and slightly scared to see a helicopter approaching him at over mach 1. He tries to turn tail and run but it is two late. The missile rips the left wing of his aircraft away from the rest of the body. The last thing the pilot ever hears is a distinctive howling noise. Passers by caught a glimpse of the aircraft and are quickly debriefed by russian military forces. Word of what they described gets back to the Russian high command and they are shocked. This is like nothing they have ever seen before. This is Airwolf. Wouldn't airwolf just make an awsome DCS game. :pilotfly: Thanks for reading. And yes I know there is 99.9% chance this will never happen. But hey you never know. Someone at ED may be an Airwolf fan.:P 2
159th_Falcon Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 IN MY OPINION No it wont make an great DCS Game. This would be because the DCS series stand for very realistic simulation of actual aircraft that have been or still are in active service. Airwolf does not fit in this profile. On a side note though, a game based on the Airwolf series could indeed be highly entertaining. Though i would not like to see it as an DCS title./ 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
astrospud Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 +1 for Falcon. I, personally would adjust my expectations from 99% to total 100% guarantee that this will not be released for the reason that Falcon1906 described. I think maybe, if this was to manifest itself in any way as a simulator, it would be as a Hollywood stunt pilot shooting scenes for the actually TV series. Each mission would consist of a scene by scene flightplan and deployment of pyrotechnics. The end result in a failed mission would involve being chewed out by the director for ruining his scenes. A victory means extra dollars in your wallet and a possible date with the lead actress... Just a thought. Rectum non bustus
Fudd Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Thats a great idea Luke.S ED should put that in development just after DCS:Voluptuous Woman That way we all wouldn't have to beat off as much... 1 The code is probaly in Russian anyway.
Fudd Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Someone at ED may be an Airwolf fan.:P Oh and I guarantee that at least one person at ED is a fan of Voluptuous Women :D The code is probaly in Russian anyway.
rrohde Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 How about making a "DCS: Blue Thunder" add-on instead? At least Roy Scheider was cool. ;) PC: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | MSI Suprim GeForce 3090 TI | ASUS Prime X570-P | 128GB DDR4 3600 RAM | 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD | Win10 Pro 64bit Gear: HP Reverb G2 | JetPad FSE | VKB Gunfighter Pro Mk.III w/ MCG Ultimate VKBcontrollers.com

ROFL.. it's already in development.. A10 Warthog  (more appropriate smiley here) Edited January 29, 2010 by StrongHarm It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
isoul Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Actualy "Airwolf" is a Bell-222 which in turn is a civilian/utility helicopter with only a few used in military service and definately not in the "Airwolf" concept missions. It would be totally unrealistic to have an "Airwolf" among us in the skies! A Bell222 flying VIP from one point to the other wouldn't be so much of a challenge. If it was a new helicopter to be developed AH-64A Apache, Mil-28N or Eurocopter Tiger. Definately NOT good idea for Digital Combat Simulator series!
L4key Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Thats so bad it's almost of trolling standard! +1 for making me giggle though

StrongHarm Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 (edited) The soundtrack should be only one song... the song from the Revenge of the Nerds where Nakashi is riding the tricycle drunk. http://video.yahoo.com/watch/1679294/5646813 Edited January 29, 2010 by StrongHarm It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
astrospud Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 As humorous and far fetched as the OP appeared, I believe that Luke.S was genuine in his appraisal for the Airwolf concept and also gave an honest POV of what he enjoys as TV series. +1 for sharing, Luke.S. We don't mean to be harsh in reply or even rebuttal. We just seem to forget where we came from at times... Enjoy DCS:Blackshark as you like. It's your game :). Rectum non bustus
Luke.S Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 don't worry tis alright. I'm used to it from LFS forum  Tis a brilliant sim black shark is. Now if only i had time to do all the training missions :P And yes I was being genuine. I believe it is about time someone made a modern airwolf game (or simulator) (I pick simulator :P)
Eddie Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Not quite sure how you'd go about simulating something that not only doesn't exist but also defies the laws of physics.
pinkBrood Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Now now eddie, dont such a mood killer, it COULD be physicaly possible, .. err its just a question about how strong you can make your turbofans, (as in not turbo shafts). The possibility to lock the main rotor would also be needed, and thrustvectoring for when the main rotor spools up after descending into subsonic speed, or spools down before the rotortips enter transonic speed.. err.. .. on the other hand, lets not build one of those :) I love how thy break the whole thing with the one of the first spoken lines in the pilot (first) episode: "A mach 1+ attack... " aww :( It was so much cooler before you had the helicopter aerodynics course
Evilducky Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Here ya go, you could get this to satisfy your needs Enjoy :) *BTW - I'm actually getting that helicopter there o.0*
sweinhart3 Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Im pretty sure you could do a decent airwolf in FSX. The real airwolf was a modified bell 222. I dont know if it is still on display or not but it used to be housed in California. Obviously it couldnt really do the stuff on the show but Im pretty sure there are bell 222 models in FSX that you could download from the community and simply modify its visual and flight parameters. Its probably already done by someone. Do some searching in the FSX community. Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart

It was converted to a medical helicopter and crashed in a storm killing all on board
Spyros Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 There is an Airwolf for X-Plane (it's freeware) and I think there's one for FSX too. God forgives... Spyros doesn't.
