Analyst Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I'm new to the game and have a question regarding communications with the ground crew. After going through the bindings I see a few different options, but none are working for me. Can someone give me some help with this? Also, I have a binding for a communications menu to the '\' key. When I press it, nothing happens... Thanks. While I'm asking noobie questions... Is there anyway to tell if you've met the requirements for a campaign mission while you're still in it? I know there's a notification when it's complete, but in the heat of battle, sometimes I miss it... Thanks again!
EtherealN Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Ground crew - you need to flip the knob at the left, selecting radio channel, to ground crew. On campaigns, for the Oil War the mission tracks overall success for you AND your entire side. There is no "mission complete" message. Study the briefing, do your mission as good as you can and hope that the other units on your side also manage to succeed. Remember - you are only one very small cog in the war machine. BKLronin Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Wasn´t there a button to show procentual the progress of a mission? Something around the ( Ö) on a german and (;) on other keyboards? Sorry no time to find the key now. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Yes - but depending on mission design it'll show either YOUR progress or the progress of you AND your friends. There is a separate trigger that'll display "mission accomplished" that also may or may not be there, depending on what the designer felt appropriate. In real life, there is no such message though - you just have to judge for yourself whether you are confident that you have met your mission goals. For the SP campagins, Deployment uses the former scheme, Oil War uses the latter. Analyst Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Thanks for the input! I'll give both communication methods a try. Will the ground crew rearm with the engines still fired up?
HitchHikingFlatlander Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Yes they will, just make sure engines are at idle and probably a good idea to reset the trim system. http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad

norm Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 (edited) also if you hit the (' ")key it brings up a screen saying what percentage of mission complete. i am always accidentally hitting when using the shval. Edited February 18, 2010 by norm
Analyst Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Neither the / or \ key do anything (default mapping). I landed, shut down the engines and opened the door. How do I communicate with them? Also, I can switch channels using the radio control panel, but don't know which channel the ground crew is on, or how to talk to them... Thanks for putting up with my questions!

Analyst Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 A screen shot - you're my hero! Now, is the tilde supposed to bring up a menu? I've tried hitting that and even tried the above as key combos...
Skkuda Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 is the tilde supposed to bring up a menu?In my Keyboard its the ç "cedilla" key that brings the comunications menu up. bfeld Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 (edited) Hi, which keyboard layout do you use? With the german layout, it should be the '#'. Probably the physical position is the same in every layout, should be above RSHIFT and left to RETURN :) Bye bfeld Edited February 18, 2010 by bfeld
sweinhart3 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I love the shout they give if you forget to change the channel before takeoff. "Hey what are you doing?" Intel i7 990X, 6GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX 470 x2 SLI, Win 7 x64 http://picasaweb.google.com/sweinhart
bfeld Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I thought that shouting was just when not asking for permissions to taxi and take off?! But I'm not sure, it's been a long time since I asked for those permissions ;)
CptTangerine Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 The best thing to do here is just to re-map the comms key. I had this problem and went into the key mapping screen and I have mapped the key to the \ key. In the mapping screen this then shows as "OEM" something, not \. Obviously some glitch in translation. MTFDarkEagle Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Good for the input, but please, use the search button next time. This issue has been talked about a lot more. This prevents forum spaghetti. I'm not trying to be a as*h%le, far from it:) Try to keep the forums clean. Greetings Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
