Hi All

Was wondering peoples opinion on the cougar setup, right now I have an X52 which works good but was considering something else. I had the X52pro and it did not work propely so I had to send it back. Does the cougar stay put when you move it or does it need to be Velcro or clamped down, how does it perform, is the software to set up a profile work well. Please give me your opinions about the cougar please.

Should I wait for the thrustmaster Hog setup coming some day soon?

Stays put like heavy metal things stay put. Performs well IMO but i havent had an X52, (only a Cyborg, then a Cyborg EVO). The software is not as simple as run of the mill plug and play, but is very flexible. The hog could be good but all we have seen are tiny glimpses and no pricing or release dates so far.

stays put.... very heavy stick.

software is great - can be easy to use.... also very flexible if you need it to be... seems daunting at first then pretty easy.

my stick was good in standard form.... but bought mods anyways...

now it feels like an X52 - but more accurate and metal everything!

very happy - but has cost a lot.

if i was just gonna get a cougar now Id maybe wait to see what hog is like.... if could spend more on mods maybe cougar+mods now.

I use cougar and wont go back to anything else. But me I just like the look and heavy feel of a realistic setup. The hog stick looks awesome but Im not holding my breath. Its been advertised for months now without even a paper launch to it. One of the many vaporware products companies like to advertise. At least for awhile it seems.

Before you buy one, ask if you can try/feel it. Stock gimbals (spring setup)feels and acts horrible. If you have some extra money, go for a modded gimbal, you won't regret it.

Software takes a bit of learning but included docs and examples are superb.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

The stick generally stays wherever you place it, its rather heavy. I think it might take you a little while to get used to the heavily text based profile editor over the GUI that ships with mosts sticks these days though the tutorials are good enough to help you create a profile from scratch. I'd agree with the other posters that new gimbals are a good idea but it depends on how much a new set of gimbals and hall sensors cost plus the price of the Cougar compared to what the HOTAS Warthog will cost when it arrives in the Spring, how much do the gimbals and halls cost these days?

Gimbals or a Realsimulator mod are quite expensive, Hall Sensors it depends on where you get them from a set costs $100 or more although if you buy just average HS it costs alot less but then they may not perform quite as well as the ones for HS kits. I wouldn't bother with an HS kit until my pots wore out.
