enigma6584 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I noticed your Su-27s had Chinese markings on them. Great touch!
T-Bone Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Yep China will play a huge role in this area. Also, there is potential for North Korea, South Korea, and also Japan to get involved in addition to just NATO, China, and Russia. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asus G72GX | CPU: Core 2 Duo Overclocked @ 2.9Ghz | Memory 6GB DDR2 | Graphics Card: nVidia GTX 260m 1GB | OS: Windows 7 Home Premium | Monitor: Samsung 32" LCD LOMAC 1.0 to FC 1.12 System RIP (2003-2010) | AMD Athlon 64 3000+ overclocked to 2565MHz | NVidia Geforce 7800 GS AGP 256 MB | 1GB Kingston PC2700 DDR DRAM | Windows 2000 with SP4
T-Bone Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 OK I did some more edits on the terrain texture and made it less repetitive looking and more detailed. I also edited the color some more so that vegetation looks less tropical and more temperate. It is now 4x the resolution of the default LOMAC FC terrain noise file. I'm now completely satisfied with the melding of the high resolution terrain noise and the overhead satellite terrain imagery and I'll be moving on and modelling the rest of the terrain on the map now. I'm happy with the way the land looks at both low and high altitude. Enjoy the screenies :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asus G72GX | CPU: Core 2 Duo Overclocked @ 2.9Ghz | Memory 6GB DDR2 | Graphics Card: nVidia GTX 260m 1GB | OS: Windows 7 Home Premium | Monitor: Samsung 32" LCD LOMAC 1.0 to FC 1.12 System RIP (2003-2010) | AMD Athlon 64 3000+ overclocked to 2565MHz | NVidia Geforce 7800 GS AGP 256 MB | 1GB Kingston PC2700 DDR DRAM | Windows 2000 with SP4

TKMR Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 This looks fantastic! Definitely a lot of potential missions/campaign possibilities! Looking forward to that video, though if GA is going around teasing about ANOTHER video, I might be taken in to the looney bin. =P Lead Admin/Founder of Kilo-Tango Gaming Community

T-Bone Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 Update, I've obtained higher resolution images with "Truecolor" terrain coloration. I'm rebuilding the terrain with this new data, and it should look much more crisp. Screenshots will follow. Old data vs New data [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asus G72GX | CPU: Core 2 Duo Overclocked @ 2.9Ghz | Memory 6GB DDR2 | Graphics Card: nVidia GTX 260m 1GB | OS: Windows 7 Home Premium | Monitor: Samsung 32" LCD LOMAC 1.0 to FC 1.12 System RIP (2003-2010) | AMD Athlon 64 3000+ overclocked to 2565MHz | NVidia Geforce 7800 GS AGP 256 MB | 1GB Kingston PC2700 DDR DRAM | Windows 2000 with SP4

T-Bone Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 (edited) The updated map with the satellite data: A preview render of Vladivostok in Global Mapper: The satellite imagery is not perfect and some data is not 100% lined up either. There are some clouds that also need to be edited out. Once this is done, and the terrain mesh is created, I'm going to create new farm textures and add in roads, rivers, cities, and airports. Due to lack of better data, I'm aiming for the map accuracy to be an "approximate representation" rather than killing myself getting the 1m resolution accuracy city/road/airport data. In the end this is a game and we aren't CIA or military. Even FC 2.0 is an "approximate representation", IE Runway 13 at Batumi. The terrain will end up being about the same land mass as the DCS/FC2 map.
