wing span will be a good indicator how agile this bird will be. Its probably tailored for long range, requires a big fuel capacity and large engines. The radar is also a factor, anything made by the Chinese to achieve long range will have to have a big antenna, thus resulting in a large airframe.

The wings look like a diamond delta with diamond shaped covers for the aileron actuators; and the canards look like they are trapezoidal with swept; there seen to be a space between them and the wings. If I'm not mistaken they tested the intake design on a j-10; there are some picture of it on the net. The general configuration is similar to the mig 1.44 concept. The cockpit is very close in shape to the raptor's cockpit. That thing is big! more like a long range fighter; probably designed to travel the bast distances in China. Are the engines the same used for the Russian t-50? I trough that they were not in good terms about intellectual property with the Chinese.

I think both J-20 and Mig 1.44 designs are very identical.

almost... the mig concept had small elevators on the space betwheen the vertical tails; those are missing on the chinesse bird; the intake is different. The wings are very far back.

Yep. Its got a huge nose.

One thing interests me though. The canards are almost co-planar with the wings. None of the others has that feature. And if it has side bays, it will get even more interesting.

I think you're looking at two slightly different pieces of technology.

Yeah, one was designed in America and built in china.

Does this thing really need canards? I thought that was a fad. Though the wing is very far back I guess. Maybe they should have just made it a delta wing. Would hate to be flying that thing if the canard servos fail. That big butt will stay aloft as the nose aims at the ground.
