FC2 Su-25 is really a charm! I'm having troubles with cluster ammo though: RBK-250 doesn't seem very effective anymore, it also doesn't seem to have right visual effects. Takes me on average 4 RBK's now to kill 1 vehicle!

 

I have better results with FAB-100's.

 

Anyone the same experience?

Clusters look to be modeled differently. I've only used the Mk-20 so far though. They actually have sub canisters that deploy which seem to be effected by wind and other factors. So there isnt that perfect cluster spread anymore. I was really surprised by that. It really changes how to use clusters now.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

yes if you fly too low. the chance the cluster will not spread.

Yeah talk about a major "shotgun blast from hell" did that, they all landed approx 20 meters too short, the little #"¤¤#% then shot at me and put my left engine on fire

That seems a good suggestion: I will try to unleash them from higher! Nice, because you than have to anticipate enough lead on a moving column.

 

BTW KGMU seems to work as expected, rockets and guns are incredible fun!

FC2 is just an excellent improvement over FC.

 

No longer do we have laser beam straight cannons, and I too dropped an RBK250 too low and it just thudded in to the ground. Rockets disperse everywhere but near the target, and curse the damn laser pipper in the Su25 as it frequently "loses lock" because I pitch up a little too much on the stick. Happy? Hell yes, now its a decent challenge and solo I can't now annihilate an entire tank division like I used to ;)

Is it just me or are rockets much more effective at taking targets out - damagewise. combine that with that welcome spread and I might have a new favorite AG weapon =D

I to have found I am much better at killing targets with ungiuded rockets. for me the fps seems hold steady when you fire rockets unlike it did in the original FC which I think helps out alot.

Mods I use: KA-50 JTAC - Better Fire and Smoke - Unchain Rudder from trim KA50 - Sim FFB for G940 - Beczl Rocket Pods Updated!

What comes in very handy is the trigger system with the ability to explode WP markers on enemy colums. This really helps in the Su-25 to find the target!

Can anyone explain what has changed and how to best use cluster bombs now?

 

I've dropped a few mk-20 from my A-10 and had very poor results. I can't see anything in the manual explaining how these have changed or should be deployed.

 

Any guidance or help appreciated.

I guessed that the new warhead modelling would make S-5 and S-8 rockets slightly more effective against vehicles (when they score direct hits). I also knew that the modelling of infantry would give the SPPU-22 a new purpose.

 

However, the fact that cluster bombs are better modelled and more difficult to use is a real surprise. I'm quite excited (looking forward to the May release)!

I'm only flying the Su-25T ATM, but am loving the weapons now.

 

Specially the CBUs! They sound and look good -and still work well. Just have to be more carefull deploying them now. Would advise always dropping CBUs in pairs -probably just as in RL.

 

Cannons and un-guided rockets working well and effectively, too.
