Now, is that a reference to its size or glide ratio?

The joke about the Phantom was that it was so huge and unaerodynamic that only its over powered engines let it fly.

Even so, they were overpowered enough to make it darn fast :)

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

And to defeat the Migs using their superior VERTICAL performance once Top Gun showed the F4 pilots how.

Isnt the title of this forum "Next DCS Aircraft Wish List"?

Just because I mentioned an unusual aircraft doesnt mean that it cant be made into a realistic flight model.

Infact using your argument from before it makes more sense to include an AWACS aircraft, particularly the 737 into DCS because the 737 is incredibly popular with the FS community. Relatively easy to "get your mitts" on the information too.

On the Arcade comment, isnt there a setting in DCS - Blackshark for a Simplified mode? Seems ED does infact make some Arcade style software

At the end of the day, ED will go where the money is. That is what they beleive will take them in the direction they want to go. You will know for sure when they announce it.

Until then, the rest of us can have all the ideas we like.....in wishful thinking :)

don't know who you're talking to ???

Well, I understand the joke and I was just trying to expand on it, that's all.

I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!"

The DCS engine will probably require a new ray-based radar system, and probably a multithreading update, if not already in A-10C. I imagine these will take some time, so if combined with a complex fighter, then release day is far away. I'd like to see a simpler fighter, maybe an F-5/20, MiG-21/23/27, or an early MiG-29. Plenty of information, several air forces around the world still operate these aircraft (potential contracts), etc.

...even more, thinking of something practical and 'alternative' but also capable of many kings of missions I see a solution in su-22 (:notify:) or something like that, it's russian also...

BUT.. :pilotfly:

..it's time for dogfighters and modern high-manoeurability fighters generaly or at least something between them. For me F-18 :notify: is the solution, or maybe F-16b52 :notify::

-combines many kinds of 21th cent. air-warfare

-has interesting a2a & a2g profile in missions and weapons. Knowing the air-to-ground profile of the ED's series provides many interesting choices

-

-Both are american ( top sells ensurance, there is 'name' etc ) and very common, practical, movie-regnant

-combat service in many modern wars in many 'hot' zones ( awesome landscapes, scenaries etc ) providing a varietty of missions and weapon profiles

-Hornet => carriers (anti-ship hits, more active serv. weapons, and generally kicks asses! :P F-16is still covering somehow today's 'falcon-needs' even

In my opinion, Radar programming may take some time but not so much. They will not start totally from scratch. They already have the code logic from FC2 F15 radar. If it is convenient, they may use this logic as a development base for further integration on future DCS module !

Ok. So this chance seems to be totally inconvenient.

It would be like taking a kids trycicle as starting point to build a monster truck :)

You can do it, but only if you're into a strange kind of coding masochism sort of thing :D

Yep: it was too busy with compressor stalls killing its pilots. :P

LOL But they fixed that. Told the pilots to stop flying such close formation when trying to take down "VIPER". You cant fix an ugly plane.

There's nothing onboard the F/A-18 that really needs fixing. It had some issues with efficiency, this sort of things happens.

That was it ... about the only thing it can't do that the tomcat can do is go fast. Everything else, the Hornet in general does it better.

I was literally just about to post a similar picture... great minds hey ;) Only thing is though if all DCS modules are going to tie in togeather would classics such as the Lightning and buccanear etc have a place really? I very much hope so of course but...

Haha i guess its a marmite plane, i much prefer the look of the F-18 over the F-14, especially the 2 seat super.....

Probably not. I've just looked it up, didn't realise quite how old it was.

Ahm... so let's all be compromised with Eurofighter, it's a medial choice and something pioner! In addition it combines with many kinds of missions with a variety of weapons. It's neither russian nor american and very promissing.. but it's not F/A-18 ;)

AH-64

I think this would be a very logical choice for the following reasons;

˚ In the last five or so years there has been a wealth of combat footage released, more so than any other aircraft (fixed or rotary), featuring this bad boy. It's in the public eye! Strike while the irons hot!

˚ A twin seater would present some very interesting challenges for both developers and players. If done properly it would be a very unique simulation and game experience

˚ It's pretty bad ass to boot, need I say more...

System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer

AH-1 TwinCobra.

Been in service longer than the Apache, can carry a better armament (in my opinion) like it has the option to mount a cannon or a minigun and grenade launcher, and is a smaller target to hit.

Apache/Cobra= win/win for me!

I think any aircraft that is a twin seater would be a solid choice. The reason I lean toward the apache is the amount of guncam/cockpit camera footage that has been released in recent years

Sorry, doublepost.

What is that silver plane? Looks like a su-22 but looks different. Su-22 has a straight fueselage and the silver one has a buldge. Wing is smooth as well. Looks like the silver plane has two vertical engines in the back.

Its an English Electric Lightning, one of the best looking jets ever built imo....
