I would really enjoy a Kiowa, or even a Kiowa/Little Bird twin pack. Would be a fun bird to fly with a bit of a different twist on things than the normal Apache/Havok/Hind stuff.

I put a wing of them in a mission I am creating for myself and they can take a beating thats for sure. I had 4 of them and a single apache to assist them. The apache is usually RTB way before the little guys. Same Route and same objectives. Bad guys may see it as a priority threat and target it first before the OH-58s though. I like taking the role of the underdog though. Its challenging.

DCS: C-130. I've been saying it for years and you know it's going to happen. Who wants to fly around in pointy-nose b**** rockets when you have a that big mother? Talk about multi-role...you can drop off supplies, pick up supplies, jam radar, steal radio signals, hack into that webcam of the enemy general getting naughty, steal bandwidth, throw expensive and very heavy multi-million dollar military hardware out the back without any regard of safety or survival, unofficially land on a carrier, deploy a crap load of chaff & flares for a light-show, annihilate half the country-side with the amount of weapons that you can carry, CSAR / SAR and refueling. Oh and you can strap a rocket to the bottom of that and literally blast off at high speeds.

The AC-130 is the weapons boat, not the C-130. Not sure but think it only has defensive countermeasures.

AC-130 could be cool though. Fly to target zone and set the plane into orbit with trim or autopilot. Then switch to the gunner stations and start raining hell. Then when you see a sam launch or something, switch back to driver and GTFO of dodge. May get boring doing the same mission every time.

F/A-18 over the F-14? Are you guys kidding? Screw the "bug." A realisitic Tomcat would be amazing!

Flying the DCS: F-14B from Heatblur Simulations with Carrier Strike Group 2 and the VF-154 Black Knights!

I also own: Ka-50 2, A-10C, P-51D, UH-1H, Mi-8MTV2, FC3, F-86F, CA, Mig-15bis, Mig-21bis, F/A-18C, L-39, F-5E, AV-8B, AJS-37, F-16C, Mig-19P, JF-17, C-101, and CEII

As much as i rally for the Harrier, the F-18 would be almost as desirable, fighting your way to a target, blowing the heck out of it and fighting back before landing on a carrier DCS style would no doubt be mind blowing!! F-14, not so much, id prefer the F-16 any day...

As for AC130, maybe in a few years when our immediate thirst for fast strike aircraft and fighters has been quenched somewhat.

Well, you have to remember that ED's main goal isnt to entertain us sim freaks, but to develop high fidelity simulators for military operators, and who would buy an F-14 sim? The Iranian air force is the last operator of the type, and for some reason I dont really see them buying software from ED...

If there is ever any hint of a

I would go into cryostasis untill it releases.

My vote goes to F/A-18! Multirole, carrierops and the only viable option in the poll.

Tornado makes a lot of sense logically, if not commercially! Then again, if you'd have told me a KA50 sim would have been commercially viable 5 years ago I'd have laughed in your face (and then bought it, invalidating my point)

Anyway, I think most likely is;

F16 - Open source data available and as multi-national as it gets

F18 - As above but fewer variants to model

Harrier - Multinational and complex, though difficult to model

Tornado - Limited US market but data easily obtainable

My thoughts only, obviously

F/A 18C only

Mulltirole fast jet with carrier operations and all that

I think that would keep everybody happy ?

I would like to see a Jaguar but dont think the US or Russian market would buy it

I would really like to see a C/D Hornet, but because they start to be a bit "legacy", at least on the business wise, super hornet in E/F would be just fine :)

I mean that some military might be interested in buying such a desktop simulator. Then again, flight manuals for C/D are available and older tech is easier than top secret new stuff.

Multiseater, multirole, multifun :) (But of course single seaters would be nice obvious choice too)

/but then again, don't get yout hopes up just because of this thread.

F18 is my last choice. Would take any jet ever in the air over it and not really sure why I have such distaste for it. Maybe top gun is one of my favorite movies ever and the bug squashed the tomcat.

Its too bad the engine is not open sourced so fans could make their own modules. I am sure someone could take the VRS craft and make them work in the DCS engine if the code was open. Would take a lot of pressure off ED to keep us happy, and they could deny any model they chose if they were also developing them.

True, but I like the quality control that comes from ED and it's not just about airframe. It's the entire modified package/improvments of each module over their successor. Superbug took a few years to modify for fsx, it would be a ground start pretty much to bring it to DCS series.

That may yet happen.

Not likely at all - it would be work from scratch, besides which, ED would have to be out of their mind to open the code.

No, it wouldn't take any pressure off and they'd also end up spreading thin trying to support people, not to mention the ill will from 'denying modules'.

The Hornet never squashed the Tomcat !

The Hornet was part of the lighweight fighter program designed to supplement the Tomcat similar to how the F 16 was to the F15

The Tomcat was designed around the Aim 54 Phoenix long range missile which the Hornet can't carry

The Tomcat also needed servicing more often than the Hornet did at 33 percent more costs or something like that

Topgun is one of my favourite films but quite innacurate but that said still one of the best films today !! oh and the Tomcat is a beautiful machine unlike some of the modern aircraft today JSF, F/A22 etc etc

Anyway thats my 2pence worth and hopefully ED will create a F/A 18 sim one day !!!

:) No offence for Poll initiator, (i don’t know who started current poll), but at least 3 of 4 candidate planes come in conflict with ED's declaration about free detailed unclassified information demanded for developing a related module.

So far for me, this poll has no relevance :dunno:

Additionally, F18 has an ongoing development with SevenG-F18. (info: Apache Longbow the same with CombatHelo)

on the other hand, F16 may have Falcon versions and a huge community, but they are becoming old horses! I believe ED has to create DCS F16, but this is only my belief.:)

For the sake of discussion, ED has an FC2 series of planes that may wish to integrate to DCS. Actually none of us really knows.

DCS F16C 52+ w JHMCS ! DCS AH64D Longbow !

Well lets hope an F16C or an F/A18C !!

both would be equally satisfying for me

PS and just maybe hypothectically speaking, ED would bring out some kind of 3 Ring Binder Squadron Leader Edition like they did with Falcon 4

I my wish was only to come true (sigh)

So what?

Yeah, I mean, it isn't like Falcon 4 is being developed by anyone any more, so it isn't like you can equate it to the F-18, so therefore ED has to create an F-16... NOT ;)

I doubt it.
