july865 Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 is it me or is the trim very sensitive on this bird? fully loaded or empty. i have it mapped to my stick, but even using the keyboard, just a single press is like a large input. . is there a 'half-step' input somewhere? maybe adjust it in the config file?? Kurtz Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 If you have rotary's on your flight stick you can asign pitch and roll trim using "axis commands" to an axis, then use "axis tune" to set curve to a value around "30" or to taste. What type of flight stick do you use?
Ven Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Even with rotary and tweaked curve, you constantly have to trim it for hands off flight. Just use H key.
Kaptein_Damli Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I also found the trim steps to be too large. I would prefer half the input myself. Although, you could say it realistic. Just to quote from the book "Warthog - Flying the A-10 in the Gulf War": "Also, the trim mechanism--the devices that allow the pilot to get the plane into a stable position where it can be controlled with the least amount of effort on the stick and rudder--is the subject of one of the standing jokes about the A-10. The trim mechanism is said to be so bad that when the aircraft is being fired at by AAA, there is no need to perform violent evasive maneuvers, or "jink". Instead, all the A-10 pilot has to do is turn loose on the controls and let the plane fly "hands off". So, I find it to be realistic! Just try refueling in the A-10. Challenging for sure, I had to get on and off the boom for several times to get a full tank. Although I wish I could have trim with half the input of today. I tried mapping it to my X52 throttle but it was the same. Trying to trim the plane level without using ALT+H is not easy. You need to trim every 10 seconds. Half the inputs would make the Hog more stable. My moviemaking channel at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/RobertDamli
july865 Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 a10 trimming is there a way to trim he ac with smaller inputs? everytime I trim with he keyboard or controller, it appears to have a huge effect. maybe something in the config file that can make the value half of what it is?? bradleyjs Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 My Tune Axis link stays disabled -- how do I enable it so that I can de-tune the Roll (Ailerons) ?? I'm using a Logitech WingMan GamePad - Alienware Area 51 R5 - Intel i9 7980XE (4.7 GHz), 32GB Dual Channel HyperX DDR4 XMP, Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Graphics 11GB GDDR5X SLI, 4.5 TB combo of SSDs/HDDs, Alienware 1500 Watt Multi-GPU Power Supply, Alienware 25” 240Hz Gaming Monitor, Alienware Pro Gaming Keyboard, TM HOTAS, TM Cougar F-16C MFDs, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals, TrackIR5, Win10 Pro x64
majapahit Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I use the toggle buttons at bottom of my saitek Throttle Quadrant A10: 4 clicks Roll Left - 4 clicks pitch Up @ ~185kts at start of Quick Mission - stabilizes retrim - @ every speeds change seperate button for 'Trim Reset' (resets All) - needed when disabling Pitch or Turn Autopilot tried assigning Quadrant Levers to trim, that is too confusing for Autopilot(s) and Resetting N.B. I use an MS FF yoke, and I can 'feel' the trimming, to where it's going. | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
IvanK Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Trim adjustment via Keyboard is way to coarse in FC2 (as it was in all previous series). It needs to be about half the response you now get to be able to trim accurately.
bradleyjs Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Well I got the "Axis Tune" all figured out now .. was a bit confusing a first -- but try, try again ... thx Alienware Area 51 R5 - Intel i9 7980XE (4.7 GHz), 32GB Dual Channel HyperX DDR4 XMP, Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Graphics 11GB GDDR5X SLI, 4.5 TB combo of SSDs/HDDs, Alienware 1500 Watt Multi-GPU Power Supply, Alienware 25” 240Hz Gaming Monitor, Alienware Pro Gaming Keyboard, TM HOTAS, TM Cougar F-16C MFDs, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals, TrackIR5, Win10 Pro x64
