One of my friend said that cloud textures/ density in FC 2.0 is much better than previous version of LockOn but ground view from high altitude is ugly, same as Falcon 4, because it has no fog effect in FC 2. The ground looks like Basic Haze in FC 1.1

Depending on the graphics engine of DCS-BS, i think ED forgot to bring the fog effect (advanced haze) back into LOFC 2.0 :huh:

could you post the specs of the PC this is happening on?

my current PC, playing both FC 1.1 and 2.0

Pentium Dualcore E2160 @ 3.2Ghz

Memory 4GB DDR2

ATI Radeon HD5770 1GB GDDR5

3x HDDs = 1.1TB

I feel there's no fog

Looks fine to me. Just a day with good visibility.

DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices

Try this too Majesco, alter the far_clip to 100000, it can have the effect of increasing fog. Here's an example from my graphics.cfg

Are you using any mods?

yep, just 2 environment mods:

- Sun & Ambient Light Color Adjustment v1.00 for LOMAC

- Simmod Terrain Reloaded mod for DCS-BS

Thanks, i'll try it then post screenies later

..... i prefer to look hazy ground at high altitude in LOFC 1.1, it seems more realistic sky than FC 2.0 :D

Majesco look here this might help!

@Mustang... actually you should DECREASE "far_clip" to have better fog blend!

OT: Installed Cat 10.3... works great fps wise (smoother)... but RICs HD black line still there... but thnx for the tip anyway!

Exactly the same here. . . i think they changed or forgot it in lofc2. . . :-( maybe due to better performance?? any suggestions to help? i love the effect, it look much more realistic.

here a direct comparison between dcs an lofc2.

i use absolutely exactly the same settings in both games.

have a look:

As Mustang tried to explain change graphics.cfg

High

{

near_clip = 0.2;

middle_clip = 5;

far_clip = 140000; -distance haze (to11000 or 12000)

BlackShark uses a value of 8000

Remember to use Notepad++

Exactly! refer to my post above... I have already mentioned that LOWERING far_clip does the trick! Check my link to a thread where A.S describes the solution in detail...

Actually i would recommend the same setting as BS at 80000 to actually notice the change... oh and on top of that you get an nice FPS boost... :)

Thank you all

I've 2 "far_clip" values tweaked: all Medium & High "far_clip" lower from 140.000 to 80.000 and fog now appeared, same as Advanced Haze in FC 1.1

Why does this happen on some systems?! I did nothing with FarClip and I still have fog visible with default settings!

Check your "far_clip" value settings, if it's 140.000 i don't think you have fog effect

All Medium & High "far_clip" values in FC 1.1 (advanced haze) and DCS-BS is 80.000

Take screenshot plz :D

"Fog" is still there, "far clip" is a different function, though the visual effect is simillar some of the time..
