It's not so much the bounce but the inability to land on the terrain/grass which sends me nuts... :fear: I really thought this would be fixed in the 1.0.2 patch... I assumed this because in FC2 the aircraft roll on the grass without too much hesitation, although the SU-25T struggles..

Yeah. It's feels pretty scripted behaviour and it's pretty frustrating. That is why I tend to avoid landing on fields of any kind, flat or not. Even if you land safely, taking off is a game of chance.

Well, I decided to test that, and found out a couple of things..

It's not the landing that's the problem - if you're really smooth and accurate, you can put it down without much problems. But there are a couple of things I noticed: if you touch down too fast (for a helicopter landing), the front wheel might (will) collapse while braking, so if you want to have any chance at all, go as slow as possible, but... Here's the second issue: your front wheel must be perfectly straight, and you need to land so that it remains like that. Otherwise, you stand pretty much no chance.

Actually, I didn't find many problems with bouncing - the helicopter seems to behave normally in that way, if you have a steady hand you can easily hit the ground safely - but more with the helicopter going out of control and tipping over to one side, exactly as shown in the video below. I don't know what's the problem, really, but I think it's related to the Ka-50's inability to operate from such areas. I don't think (just guessing, of course) it was made at all to land on grass strips. It's a single-seat attack helicopter made for operating from heliports or airfields (again, guesswork only), and I'm either missing something or it doesn't really make sense to land it in a field in the middle of nowhere.

But then of course, I'm just a n00b, so... :music_whistling:

keep wheels up and go land autorotation without engine power and i m sure heli not bounch but then you need walk back to base to get new chopper.

Why you guys want land if there is not airport?

I only land land if something happend and cant fly back base

If I was a helicopter pilot triying to land on an unprepared strip or in the middle of a field, I would never try to make a rolling landing. You're risking too much and it's hard to see bumps in a field.

If it's a Su-25, then you have to cross your fingers, I guess. Most secondary or country roads in the world are full of bumps and I guess any plane triying to land there would crash most of the time. A field is even worse, you don't know the rigidity of the surface, and you definately can't land a multi-ton aircraft in a crop field because it would sink its wheels.

Consider it a texture issue. The ground looks nice and flat, but it's not meant to be. It isn't meant to be landed on. You should assume that there are no nice even, debris-free, grassy flat areas available to land on. You can land on roads just fine, however. So if you want to land away from an airfield or pad, then just land on a road. In the real world, there are no engine or memory or video card limitations on placing objects and debris and ruts and ditches and logs, etc. In the game, that limitation exists, so you can either land ANYwhere (not realistic) or NOwhere (also not realistic). Of course, it possible to land, but it's a pain. Better to just stick to roads and assume anything off-road is a debris-filled, rut-covered mess.
