This is not the card as NVIDIA is say in it is.. it's actually a "352 CUDA Cores"

Not a 465.

The Fermi 480 Cuda Cores, is right..

Yoda got a 480 and he says it behaves quite well.

I read some reviews, and in fact the 465 is not performing as it should considering the cost and the performance of the Radeon HD5850 which costs about the same. And in addition is hotter and consumes more power in idle/full load than the Ati part. They'll need some redesigning of the gpu or new smaller manufacturing process to keep up with the already 'old' Ati products...

What do you think? ;) BOTH! Great BBQ AND great gaming.

Serously: He said it works fine ... for gaming.

Havent played Fc2 on the 480 yet, but I can tell you it is awesome in general :).

(dont know how that guy in the video got it to make that noise, mine is never that loud :P)

If you have a case with good airflow, it is a silent card. I ran the Unigine Heaven DX11 benchmark for

20 minutes straight and this was one of the few cases where the card's fans actually started

spinning up at all (it was still not very noticable). Now, I have a case with very good airflow (insanely good actually), but I'm just

saying: With this configuration the card is more silent than my hd4870 was in my old machine.

Comparison: If I have my window open there is no way I can tell if my computer is on or not,

only very demanding games will cause the fan of the 480 to spin up at all for me.

- Yes it gets hot

- Yes, unless you have good airflow it will make noise (for me it is dead silent)

- Yes ur electrical bill might go up very slightly

- Yes you need a darn good PSU

- Yes you spank that 5870 :) (http://yoda.reservoirselite.com/gtxv5870.pdf)

FYI I refuse to get a 5970 or any sli setup. Ive had it before, and I'm never doing it again hehe.

-----------

And yes, the 465 seems to be pretty much crap.

If you overclock a 5870 using NO voltage mods it will beat the 480.

5870 is better for the main reasons that is use's about half the power as the 480, it costs less, and it doesn't heat up nearly as much. And can match the speed of the 480 with a mild overclock.

But I'm a hardcore PC enthusiast, so efficiency and performance are top priority for me.

A 11% performance Increase to me is not worth an extra 100$.

I think that review is using old drivers. The new 480 drivers up the performance by quite a bit.

The early ones weren't very mature, but yes, it is a heat monster ;)

I think this review used the new driver http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/geforce-gtx-465.html

I summarized the performance for 1920x1080 here http://yoda.reservoirselite.com/gtxv5870.pdf

Update: Ok it is not so silent as my first impression. hehe... I guess I'll be getting that water cooling after all, bummer ;)

Nedless to say, I found some games pushing the card..until it took off!

In the review the Nvidia drivers used were the 197.41's. What are the new drivers?

In the end I think I'll wait for Nvidia to release their next gen after the 400 series.

So you had Yoda talk about MIGs taking down F-15's and awesome Su-25T's?

The only true Fermi cards are the 470 or 480. Any thing else is not worth getting. With my new job at MicroCenter, I get a great discount on EVGA gear. Guess who is starting a new build that will have at least one 480 in it with water.
