GuntiNDDS Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 I have allways been wondering about what the highlighted mechanical things in the cockpit are (see picture below):
BTTW-DratsaB Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 I believe "B" are adjustable lights, for cockpit/instrument lighting. 1 Specs: GA-Z87X-UD3H, i7-4770k, 16GB, RTX2060, SB AE-5, 750watt Corsair PSU, X52, Track IR4, Win10x64. Sim Settings: Textures: ? | Scenes: ? |Water: ? | Visibility Range: ? | Heat Blur: ? | Shadows: ? | Res: 1680x1050 | Aspect: 16:10 | Monitors: 1 Screen | MSAA: ? | Tree Visibility: ? | Vsync: On | Mirrors: ? | Civ Traffic: High | Res Of Cockpit Disp: 512 | Clutter: ? | Fullscreen: On
Avilator Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 I believe "B" are adjustable lights, for cockpit/instrument lighting. That they are. "C" is an air conditioning vent. I have no idea what "A" are. 1 I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!" Who can say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow. -Robert Goddard "A hybrid. A car for enthusiasts of armpit hair and brown rice." -Jeremy Clarkson "I swear by my pretty floral bonet, I will end you." -Mal from Firefly
ED Team Wags Posted June 13, 2010 ED Team Posted June 13, 2010 A are the senors for the HMS. 2 Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt Twitch: wagmatt System: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3729544#post3729544
AlphaOneSix Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Well, the "B" items are NVG-compatible flood lights. They are what give you that bluish light when you turn on the cockpit lights at night. 1
cctoide Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 (edited) C looks like an A/C nozzle to me. I'm puzzled by A too, my only guess is some sort of light level sensor so the HUD knows how to adjust brightness, but that's a bit far-fetched. edit: Well that was the greatest synchropost ever. I guess I might as well throw this in here rather than dig the A-10 thread back up: in an A-10 cockpit shot, I noticed a bunch of sockets/buttons(?) right behind the stick, on the lowest panel in the center console. I can't recall which photo I saw this in but they had names that sounded like they corresponded to individual hydraulic actuators, so assuming they're actually sockets I'm guessing something plugs into them for diagnostics/testing of each actuator on the plane. Is it anything like that at all or am I way off base? Edited June 13, 2010 by cctoide 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
Avilator Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 They are, in fact, circuit breakers. Check out the attached image, right in front of the base of the stick. Some of them are pulled and have lock-out tags on them. I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!"
