ED Team JimMack Posted June 17, 2010 ED Team Posted June 17, 2010 I would be very interested in the experiences of multiplayer squadrons that have both Black Shark and FC2 in multiplayer. Current military doctrine states that attack helos do not operate unless they have air superiority cover from their own side. This is theory, and the concept of helos operating without air superiority cover has never been tested in reality, and only on a few occasions in Red Flag exercises. It has also not been tested in military simualtions as it is only now that military legacy sims are being linked together. We have an opportunity to explore, and maybe re-write military doctrine before the military can do so. Having problems? GGTharos Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Jim, it is not possible to test realistically unless you concede that you're using 70's fighters, since the radar return for the Ka-50 has been artificially reduced. Further, lack of any sort of GCI or AWACS guidance for the Ka-50 compounds the problem. 104th_Crunch Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Lots of 24/7 action in the servers right now, but even better, the 159th's LOCERF 10-2 is this Saturday which of course features every single player working in teams. We can save the tracks, briefs and debriefs for you Jim.

In the UK, there is the RN THURSDAY exercise where often Hawks are sent to attack helos flying over land. Having problems? Own helos have own air cover against OPFOR. 2. Own helos do not have air cover against OPFOR. Having problems? nemises Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 ..an account of 3 X KA50 vs inbound F15: http://www.104thphoenix.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2313 Jim, The primary advantage I've noticed in flying the KA50 in a comprimised air space, is, with top cover you can get Audible warnings from those aircraft equiped with RWR and Radar's, giving you enough time to seek cover or go defensive in the Shark. Without this, death comes swiftly and silently.
GGTharos Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 In that case I have at least one story for you, A-10A v ka-50 :) I agree and accept what you say. Case Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 What is the deal with IFF on helicopters? I assume that they do not have IFF, in which case preventing fratricide can only be done by good communications. It is a pity FC2 only provides unambiguous identification, both for airplanes and helicopters. There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
HiJack Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 the 159th's LOCERF 10-2 is this Saturday which of course features every single player working in teams. No it's not ;)
GGTharos Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Darn, I should make a site, shouldn't I ... :D The result: Stay high (couple thousand feet higher than the helis at least) and attack from the top where they can't see you. Like shooting fish in a barrel ... heck, you can even bomb them. Where's the link to the Ka-50's Book of Condolence?......:) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Pilotasso Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 You guys better cover your assets. I spent a good half our covering Maykop from red attacks, but the frogs and sharks were coming unescorted and kept picking one after the other without being harassed by any fighter. After a while I was bored and left the mud movers alone. :) .
