This is not a bug. The CBU-97 is in the process of getting realistic modeling.

1. This loadout is a drag and weight nightmare! ;)

2. Have you ever considered to drop that nightmare, once you're forced to perform an emergency landing with a heavy damaged aircraft???

As a matter of fact, I did jettison the entire payload after got hit, and the pic I posted shows "rearm complete" at the top left. Certainly I wouldn't have landed if I had 18 MK-82s with 105% weight.

What dose it mean when the tower says "you are cleared for takeoff when ready, runway 14, climb 300 at QFE 28.15". I know the part "runway 14" but what about "climb 300 at QFE 28.15"

Also, when JTAC says the 9 line, what dose the elevation part mean, do I need to be at that altitude or is the target at that altitude?

:helpsmilie: Thanks

Climb at 300fpm (or 300mpm?), the QFE is field elevation pressure. If you adjust your altimeter to this number, it should read 0' altitude while you're on the airfield.

For JTAC, he means the MSL elevation of the target, so if you need to you can manually set the target altitude in your fire control computer.

continuing tracks?

Hi folks,I am sure I read somewhere in the forums about being able to replay a track and take over before it finishes and continue on with the mission, sure it was in a discussion about saving your progress or something along those lines.Am I mistaken or can this be done as a way of a sort of save option,if you get my meaning and if so how can you take back control of your track so it wont finish and you can continue on in your flight?

Hope you guy's follow what I am trying to say, thanks.

Cheers, Mick.

At any time during a track replay the Control option can be selected from the Escape dialog box, near Quit, Continue and Cancel.

But I had weird issues after using fast forward before using this "save game" replacement. It looks like some event chains can be broken and result in joystick control loss at some later point.

I have just bought DCS A10 off Steam V 1.1.0 All I can see to update it is V 1.6.0, nothing earlier and when i install 1.6.0 it says install 1.5.0 so if someone could direct me to the DL area for the first lot of patches, that would be great.

Could be a reason why I can't connect to MP perhaps.

Run the game, select the mission editor from the main menu, and then from the last menu option at the top (can't remember what it's called :() select Credits. That'll show the full version. I think Steam should probably be 1.1.0.8.

1.1.0.9 is the latest but updates tend to be released a bit later on Steam. Starting with 1.1.0.9 the startup splash screen shows the full version number (rather than just 1.1.0).

Yesterday, I have decided to take a closer look at altimeter, how it works and how the standard IRL procedures are, I have learned what QFE, QNH and QNE codes are etc. I have a couple of questions, though, to which I failed to find answers.

1. Altimeter Source: if I change the source, the altitude doesn't change, at least not by so much to notice the difference. I suppose this is correct, but I would like to know in which scenarios (and if at all) I might want to change it (in simulation and how does that compare to IRL).

2. If I want to tune "altitude" on my altimeter, I simply set the pressure to 2992, that's it? Is this value the same worldwide or is it specific to region in Georgia?

3. Previous question leads to my next one, I am slightly confused as to what is the difference between altitude and flight level. And how to set them in-flight? One of them is I guess 29.92 inHg, is that the global one (QNE)? If so, how do I set altimeter to QNH (altitude)?

Thanks for answers :)

Well explained in this Thread: ALT SCE only affects the IFFCC calculations and not your altimeter. Also search the forums for "CCIP"

No! It is the air pressure you set there. So: It's changing all the time (IRL) from mission to mission (in DCS).

Flightlevel is just a form of "naming altitudes". FL300 is 30.000ft at standard air pressure (same datum for all aircraft flying according to FL).

Custom keyboard

I recently got DCS A10 and upgraded a few bits to help me tackle it. I got a new HOTAS stick on the way ( i read you can control most features with this) I also picked up the following from ebay.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w4/pixelmassacre/FILE0003.jpg

Its a programmable point of sale keyboard, as you can see there are differant shaped keys and they can all be moved around and also they have clear plastic tops so you can insert your own characters/labels. There is an eeprom inside the keyboard too so it can be programmed to return multiple keystrokes from a single key. My question is about which areas of the cockpit i should assign? perhaps the UFC and countermeasures. As I learn the Aircraft and progress into combat what am I gong to need.

P.S this is all untested as yet and I'll do an update if i get it all working succesfully.

Is there something specific on startup so the EAC will turn on? I have now started up a few times in my own way and EAC won't turn on. Eventually when flying (about >15min) it somehow activates and can be used but that's not good. The "FUNC + CLR" as said in manual doesn't help.

Also, when I try ILS landing I can't get the pitch and band steering bar to show me the way. I have set the frequency from ILS control panel and set NMSP to ILS and turned it on. What else? I have tried the landing tutorial but have no clue how they came up to ADI.

I have attached a record where both of these issues are shown if you are interested to see how I :joystick:

Very, very short answers:

1. EGI align not complete before moving to runway ( OSB NAV + 4 minutes -> 4.0 0.8 )

2. ILS NMSP Stow switch should be set to Able

Posted

Longer versions of those answers ;-)

1) when you turn on CDU and EGI, EGI takes about 4 minutes to align. You cannot move until the process is finished, otherwise your navigation system won't be accurate and you won't be able to turn on EAC.

You will know when the alignment is complete: on CDU there will be flashing text: 'INS NAV READY' and few lines below you will see this number: 4.0.0.8

2) For the ILS steering bars to be shown, you have to enable them, they are disabled by default. You can do this on Navigation Mode Select Panel (NMSP) by switching the Stow switch to ABLE position (that's the same panel where you turn ILS on).

I've had this happen once. Couldn't figure it out. I had numbers 4.0.0.8 but no 'ins ready' and could not turn on EAC.

What would be the way to back out of this procedure to get it to work? Turn off CDU, then start from there?

This is interesting.

But after flashing INS NAV RDY annunciation stage passed correctly and OSB NAV alignment activated to stop that flashing (FM-P440), there is no reason why a GPS linked system could loose cohesion.

The only issue I had with EGI has always been reflected on the Caution Light Panel and had something to do with throttle EAC switch out of sync for some reason (mostly after getting back from Windows desktop to full screen DCS -- DX-Input EAC switch on-state issue...?).

But chances are EGI could get out of alignment in some circumstances and this would be a good time to conduct EGI related EMERGENCY PROCEDURE recovery, (FM-P584). There is a REINIT GPS function in a CDU REINIT page.

Hi,

I've completed Surrounded mission with labels, i'm trying to do that again without labels but i don't know how to spot enemy. My wingman says something like "air defence xxx clock on xxx", first i don't know what should i do with that numbers. Is there any way to spot enemy without wingman and without jtac? Or is there should be at least one of them (wingmans direction, jtac maybe awacs).

Are there any tips or tutorials for these? Thanks.

(sorry for my bad english grammar)
