ralfidude Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Well it tells you if you break below the set altitude (default 10K) and past a certain angle, so I think of it as both. Thank you for the ALT alert thing. Im putting together a video of some uncommon and common cool tips for my viewers, and i was looking for that. comshield Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Help with ground crew I am having trouble with the ground crew. Before takeoff I switch communications to intercom and I'm dialed in to the specific airports frequency and I can change my load-out. But it seems that when I land at an airport and do the same thing (the text for the ground crew is a bright white too) I ask for re-arming but there is no reply. Help please?

Ground crew (and therefore arming etc) are only available at airbases held by the friendly coalition.
AVZ Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 The FAC/AWACS/TANKER does not respond to any of my contact attempts - TACAN does work though, but that's about it. It used to work for me in version 1.1.0.6 - since about 1.1.0.8 (or maybe even since .7) I have not been able to have any contact with any of those. What should I do?
ralfidude Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 (edited) You sure you are on the right frequency? And are you sure you are not pressing the "\" button? Need to specify Radio FM, AM, or UHF I was looking through the controls page some time ago and I saw a keyboard option to change HUD color. Seems it doesnt work? Jona33 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Has that got anything to do with the night mode for the HUD by any chance? Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
AVZ Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Realistic or simplified comms? Realistic. I have done a clean reinstall of DCS, which has improved my game performance, but did not solve the issue I have been having with contacting the FAC/Tanker/AWACS. I got the comms to work by changing the simulator options to simplified radio communication. Can someone tell me what I was not doing correctly in the realistic mode? For the tanker (150.00), I would tune my VHF to 150.00Mhz and keep the selector radio knob on the 'both' option, and then attempt the contact by using the "\" to bring up the radio menu, then navigate to the tanker section and attempt the contact; what have I not been doing correctly?
ALDEGA Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 (edited) Realistic. In realistic mode you need to explicitly select which radio you want to use (in simplified mode this is done automagically). There are four key assignments, see attached screenshot. There's more to realistic radio's if you want to go all the way. I'm sure there's an explanation somewhere. Edited January 2, 2012 by ALDEGA 1

Thank you so much! I completely forgot about that little radio knob! Happy New Year :D

ED Team Olgerd Posted January 2, 2012 ED Team Posted January 2, 2012 (edited) Well it tells you if you break below the set altitude (default 10K) and past a certain angle, so I think of it as both. It tells you that only if either of two conditions are met: - roll is more than 75 degrees and a negative pitch is present. - pitch is negative and is more than -20 degrees. That is why TAAF, in fact, is the attitude warning, but not an altitude one. Edited January 2, 2012 by Olgerd [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] К чему стадам дары свободы? Их должно резать или стричь. ralfidude Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Copy that. As far as the HUD goes. If it's non functional, why is it in the controls page under a keyboard shortcut to begin with? Seems kinda silly to me. You have the switch to night hud, but that's not it either. Maybe in the non simulator mode it works? Buckram Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Hi All! When I fly and I get acquired by SAMs or AAA I usually break and take them out myself. However, I have heard the term SEAD used in concern to these matters. My question is, what is SEAD and how does one utilise it in DCS A-10C? Thanks in advance Achieving World Peace - One 2000lb JDAM at a time. Jona33 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 (edited) SEAD is Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses. Aircraft that fly SEAD missions are generally equipped with Anti radiation missiles that lock on to the radar that is detecting them. They then fire these and fly away. ALARMs, HARMs, KH-25s, KH-58s (I think that's the right number) are examples of these missiles. In DCS there may be SEAD flights, in the campaign you call them in with the F-10 radio menu. There's a very good reason why 'Ill take these guys out myself' doesn't work. An SA-10 site has a range well beyond a maverick (something like 90km or so) and are incredibly dangerous so you call in the SEAD with their long range missiles to kick but. Obviously these guys can only really take out radars with Anti radiation missiles so launchers may be left intact as will manpads and optically guided AAA. The inner circle is the threat range of an SA-10 launcher. Edited January 3, 2012 by Jona33 Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

airea Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 In the Georgian Hammer Campaign, the objective of the 3 rd mission is to destroy a command center unit 5 miles to Ozurgeti (which is a waypoint in the missinn). There are also some JTAC units and some other friendly CAP, CAS, SEAD etc units in the mission. The place where it is supposed to have some enemy HQ units, there are some trucks or BTRs (I dont really know what they are but they are easy to destroy with gun). Anyway, I detroy those trucks in HQ waypoint but I cannot complete the mission. I talk to JTACK guys, and Darknight gives a very stupid location which is miles away (the current map location is grid GG but where darknight directs me is somewhere on KM grid). Is there something wrong with this mission? Or what am I doing wrong here?
