Grimes Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I've gotta ask, frankly because I want to know. I've seen a few posts mentioning new features to the game that are related to the mission editor. However I haven't seen anything yet (aside from the SIMHQ preview shots) of any new details of the mission editor itself. Now I was seriously hoping that FC2 and Black Shark were going to get some new editor features when FC2 came out. I figured that in the year or so Black Shark was out some new features would've been implemented. But nothing substantial came from it. Frankly speaking I don't want want to hear about some generalized features available, I'd like to know specific features. What are the new Trigger types, Conditions, and Actions available in the editor. Is there any new logic associated with AI movements? Can we create a custom GUI for gameplay functionality? Can we import "code" from other missions. Do we have more data-types to store information than just a boolean value? Here is a picture of a sad panda that pretty much sums up I how I feel on the lack of information regarding the most important aspect of the game. 1 The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Insanatrix Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I'm actually quite curious as well. Are the AI routines being updated? A feature I would like to see is the ability to stop a convoy along it's path and also giving it multiple route's without having to create triggers for it.
EvilBivol-1 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Grimes, I remember quite well your earlier request for such a description. If you recall Black Shark, we had released a few "write-ups" regarding the technical details of some new features, like radio modeling, detection logic, etc. I would love to do the same now for A-10C, but the plain truth is that there is simply no time for it, because day-to-day I and every other developer is working to complete core features as soon as possible. This applies equally to some of the very elements you are asking about. It's just not quite there yet to be written up and posted, but I assure you that it is something I for one would like to do when the code and time is there. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Grimes Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Screenshots of the pages detailing the info from the GUI manual would suffice. EvilBivol-1 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Negative on the GUI manual and very positive on the busy. 1 - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
EvilBivol-1 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 New trigger rules and actions have been posted in Russian, if someone wants to translate: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=964590&postcount=3351 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=964591&postcount=3352 - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Case Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Thanks EB! Google translate indicated some very interesting triggers. There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
Moa Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Yeah, thanks GoodBivol-1 for releasing those. Now, off to Google Translate ...
Grimes Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 (edited) Key stuff from translation... Conditions: Part of group/coalition inside or outside of zone. ( This is very useful! ) Pitch/Roll/Course within a specific range. (We can create a trigger controlled GCI. However the amount of code needed is borderline insane. I might have missed it but I didn't see any "range" option in there. The actions... where things become much more enjoyable and useful. Group continue, group stop. (AI will start and stop on their waypoints as triggered) Enable argument... forces a draw argument on a 3d model. Would be interesting to know if said draw argument can physically effect aircraft. Aka... simulating damage to airframe and/or other uses) I think this can also be used as part of training scenario creation. Group AI on/off. Apparently it stops them from thinking and is like they are a static object. Could be used to make super annoying sam sites where additional trigger logic virtually changes their detection, acquisition, and firing logic. Group Sensors on/off. Uhmm just like above but the AI can still visually react. Thats my guess. MOST USEFUL NEW TRIGGER AWARD goes to Radio Menu Add/Remove. Oh the fun things we can do with this. There are so many. Operation Go Codes Support Commands of so many varieties. Virtual Commander Role Built in mission voting... for something within the mission This opens up a level of interaction that is needed. Players can give commands for so many different parts of the game it will be great. My only major question is how its handled in MP... because everything fun in life is best done with friends. Noticeable Omissions and/or unknown changes. Hey I'm sorry but I gotta say em. Advanced Text Formatting (Using HTML to change font, emphasis... stuff like that) Variable Keywords (Recognized by text message, instead of having 20 triggers set to display 20 different messages, you have 1 triggered message display a specific word associated with a spot in my next point) arrays (ID1 = Blue Team, ID2 = Red Team, ID3 = Neither... Message reads "The array1ID has taken the airfield" Math counter (Its like flags but with more options. Can use flags to control the math counter. Conditions can compare the current value for triggers) Percentage (more of a function of the math counter) AI Retreat (AI attempt to return to their starting location. If its an aircraft it flies its back to home, if its ground they follow waypoints in reverse. At any time they can be told to advance and return to their initial waypoints/mission) AI Resupply. (Not sure if the current AI controls can stop Artillery fire missions or not, but it could make ground units stop shooting to reload and AI airunits to fly back to base rearm, refuel, and give another shot at mission.) AI Target area change (If artillery they change targeting priority, if air units they focus on the listed target area above all others) To your credit of posting the russian forum link here is a picture of a happy panda.
