Prophet4no1 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 So, my newest issue of PC Gamer showed up with a hands on of DCS A-10. Seems all is looking really good to the writer. With the mention both from Wags and from the article of a 2010 release, I was wondering if there was any word on the target date? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
slug88 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I think this is the most exact info we have: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=56699 Q: When will DCS: A-10C Warthog be released? A: Unless something unforseen happens or problems occur during development and testing we hope to release DCS: A-10C Warthog for digital download before the end of 2010. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
159th_Falcon Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Well, whit some luck a lil bit earlier. I mean, who wants to be writing dull gaming code during X-mas?:music_whistling: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
CrashEd Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I'd write 'dull gaming code' any time of the year if I could! ;);) So, my newest issue of PC Gamer showed up with a hands on of DCS A-10. Seems all is looking really good to the writer. With the mention both from Wags and from the article of a 2010 release, I was wondering if there was any word on the target date? Was that a UK or US issue? Wouldn't mind a read of that...

CrashEd Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I believe US. Thanks, that's a shame. Was hoping to grab a copy over here. I'm sure the UK issue will be different...
sweinhart3 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Usually statements like those mean sometime in the 4th quarter. Im in no way suggesting what ED intends to do, but most companies that say that typically release in the November timeframe to get the Christmas sales. Of course, if the sim isnt done its not gonna get released. IMO, from the sounds of what still needs to be completed, there is still a lot of work left and Im not holding my breath. Someone mentioned DX11 causing problems, many of the pics are 'WIP' suggesting the end product may be different, and a lot of features still seem to be unknown. Or at least they arent telling us. Already being mid September, a lot of work would have to be crammed in a short period to make a 2010 release. hassata Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Mid November to late November is my guess unless things go pear-shaped. But a hand's on look in a magazine is a good sign. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Stickers Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Grrr... as soon as I stop my subscription, they do this!
Prophet4no1 Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Grrr... as soon as I stop my subscription, they do this! Lol, it's my last issue. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CrashEd Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Which issue number is it in? Might try and get hold of a copy if it's worth reading?
Prophet4no1 Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Not sure the number, but it has the Civ 5 cover with Bismark clocking Washington. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Steel Jaw Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Ah yes, PCG. The magazine that exemplifies all that has gone horribly wrong with pc gaming/simming. Prophet4no1 Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 It's not much more than we already know. Pretty much it was the whole sim column. The writer apparently has one of the Beta builds and says that so far it's every thing he expected from DCS/ED. That's the whole thing in a nutshell. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Prophet4no1 Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 Also he likes it more than BS because you are flying a US aircraft this time around. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ZaltysZ Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Well, whit some luck a lil bit earlier. I mean, who wants to be writing dull gaming code during X-mas?:music_whistling: It depends on which X-mas you are talking about. :smilewink: Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
davek1979 Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Also he likes it more than BS because you are flying a US aircraft this time around. Sounds like a good reason to prefer a fixed-wing sim over a rotor sim... /FACEPALM... ...well someone has to move the mud!!!
Steel Jaw Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I have checked the Sept and Oct 2010 issues and see nothing about this. CrashEd Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I have checked the Sept and Oct 2010 issues and see nothing about this. Nothing mentioned on the website either: http://www.pcgamer.com/category/magazine/latest-issue/
EtherealN Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Sounds like a good reason to prefer a fixed-wing sim over a rotor sim... /FACEPALM... Nothing weird in liking and preferring the hardware produced in one's own country. I'm not exactly a nationalist or patriot myself, but I still have a very strong emotional attachement to the hardware that my country has produced. (Even if it is kinda crappy in some respects.) Emotional attachements matter, even though we often pretend they don't. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

I like BS but being from Canada I just couldn't get into the Russian helo; no offence, but I'm use to American/Canadian built equipment, so I'm very eager to try the A10.
