MTFDarkEagle Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 DM, Reading your last post you indicated that you are looking for several components for your cockpit. Keep looking at simmeters. Couple of weekends ago there was a flight sim conference in the Aviodrome (the Netherlands) and Simmeters were there. The guy I spoke to said they are developing full scale fully working components for the A-10C cockpit. Including the MFCD's, CDU etc.. He said they should be coming available in january 2014. Just an FYI for your AWESOME pit! Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Deadman Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 MTFDarkEagle Thanks for the heads up .even with the MFCD line drawing available most of the other information is not. So we will see if any of it will fit in the pit https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
MTFDarkEagle Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Yes quite so. The guy I talked to said they developing/designing this hardware together with "cockpit restorers" who apparently have access to full size A-10C cockpit(s). They already have a set of 1:1 scale set of engine instruments which work beautifully! They displayed them at the FSweekend show. They had an A-10C (with TM WH) setup and those gauges. Smooth, accurate and good looking, but (a bit) expensive... http://www.simmeters.com/engine-indicators/109-engine-cluster-pack.html Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Deadman Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 MTFDarkEagle I would love to know who there working with. There are not that many cockpits out there. I know of one real cockpit in Cal, and three trainers including mine. I have looked at Sim meters gauges for awhile and with the amount of material around the indicators it does not look like they would fit in to the area 162 mm tall 232 mm wide. I admit I have not spent the time to get a lay out from them. That along with the fact that the ITT and RPN indicators are single pointer instead of with the sub dial pointer. Makes the units not as attractive as they could be. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
MTFDarkEagle Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 That's the only info the guy gave me lol :) The gaugepack is incredibly small! I'm sure it will fit in such a space. It's 1:1 replica from the real deal. Agreed on the sub dial pointers though. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread

Deadman Posted November 23, 2013 Author Posted November 23, 2013 Hum well not much going on with the pit at the moment . The stickers and getting ready for the handle run is keeping me busy. I did make a set of plans for the pedestal that holds the TISIL and Circuit breaker panel and the handles mount on. Plans will be available to those that have ordered the handles. I am looking at casting the mount for the Aux LG Ext handle it will increase the cost but it will provide function for the handle. I do need to ask if people that have shown interest in the handles want them mounted on aluminum tubing when appropriate? Painting of the handles will be up to the purchaser. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
MacFevre Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 DM, mounting is ok with me if you decide to go in that direction. I've got a question that is going to really show my ignorance, but I've never used the emergency brake in the sim, and I'm currently not at home. Does the brake work by pulling out the handle, or by twisting it? Just wondering how to implement the switch part. Thanks. Hansolo Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Hi DM, I am in for the aluminium tube for my emergency brake handle and the canopy ejection handle. Thanks MacFevre, at least in the sim it is just pulling out to active emergency brake and push in to disengage. Boltz Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Does the brake work by pulling out the handle, or by twisting it? Just wondering how to implement the switch part. I wondered that before and DM answered it. The emergency brake is pull push. The canopy jettison is push the mechanical release button and pull the handel. grayson Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Hi, DM, Ally tubing for my order, when your ready of course. Regards
Deadman Posted November 24, 2013 Author Posted November 24, 2013 (edited) I am working ion a set of plans for the Canopy jett /Canopy control switch housing and the EMERGENCY BRAKE HANDLE/ SEAT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT SWITCH housings. Then from there plans for the left and right console it all fits together. The only thing I would really love to have are the measurements for the stand off Dzus connector system for the CMSP (EWMU) and the caution lights panel Edited November 24, 2013 by Deadman https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
Deadman Posted November 26, 2013 Author Posted November 26, 2013 Well I smacked the crap out of my right hand pulling a part the form for the Emergency brake. ripped off a piece of thumb nail as well. It is to gruesome for pictures sports fans it will be a few more days until i get the molds done . I can't do much now that takes any dexterity until the swelling and soreness go away a bit. I had hoped to have things ready for production by Friday but we will see https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
