CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Folks, forgive me for butting in here, I'm a total novice, just looking at this thread is quite fascinating. But what exactly is the premise?

Is the OP designing the panel on CAD/Software?

Will this panel be made in in the real world or is it a mod?

If real world, how do you guys get cockpits together with all the fancy black panels, switches etc?

Are these functional panels/parts or just eye candy?

Where does a beginner start?

Many thanks

Is the OP designing the panel on CAD/Software? What is an OP? The soft ware is Sketch up

Will this panel be made in in the real world or is it a mod? The Main instrument panel will be cut on a cnc router then I may cast it for strength. All the other small bezels i have added to check the dimension of the main panel Except for items that are A-10C only I.E Fire handle housing MFCD Bezels these items i will have to make.

If real world, how do you guys get cockpits together with all the fancy black panels, switches etc? First visit http://www.mikesflightdeck.com/ then how much money do you want to spend a complete set of links to io cards on Mike's site there are a few other sites as well dealing with cockpit construction.Personal I am waiting until A-10C is released so I don't spend money on a system that is not compatible.

Are these functional panels/parts or just eye candy? All of my complete panels function

Where does a beginner start? Decide what you want a HOTAS a set of MFD a mini pit or a full copy of an A-10C then research

Many thanks

I think i found a monitor that will work for the MFCD s. I have built one in to the Main panel with a few modifications to the panel shoulder angles is a bit different and the grasp hole is now missing from the side of the MFCD but i can live with that. The TFT LCD is placed right behind the mounting plate for the bezel.

The Monitor is a Lg i found on eBay I have not ordered any or tried them if a few of us ordered together it would bring down the price. It fits nicely with the few changes i mentioned earlier. I have no idea what graphic card would work for these. The one on eBay does not come with the VGA Board or a power supply. The board is an extra $35.00 and no idea on the power supply I have not found one yet if you want the spec sheet on the TFT and board send me a pm and i will send them to your email

Has any one used monitors like these ? any suggestions?

I have something very similar to that now, but it's only a 5" screen. The set that I bought included the AV card and power supply - it was "plug and play" basically. :D

IF, repeat IF these operate like the one I have (and it appears it does from the specs and screenshots), it connects to any standard video card using a VGA connection.

The little yellow jack is a standard RCA type connection and the separate little "controller" is probably the power and other controls (contrast, etc.).

Those look promising, I just hate ordering this type of stuff from overseas.

I had a look at the link and the monitor there is very much like the one I have (only it's not in any monitor casing)... it is 8.4" (mine are 8") 4:3 ratio so they will cover the back of TM Cougar MFD's and have little extra in vertical (and of course in width). The photo shows it's got VGA connector so you can connect it to any video card that has either VGA or DVI connector (they all come with DVI-VGA adapter) so to me it looks fine to use.

Deadman... that will work like a charm then... if you build them yourself I can see your MFD's will be bit bigger then Cougar MFD's and won't have that round edge on the inside...
