Hempstead Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Sounds like a lot of work to make a 3 position rotary type clicking switch It is, unless you can find a ready made pot with long step cut shaft with threads on it and have tools to cut metal. Or you can use something like this, PTR902-2015F-C104 on Digikey. Since this is controlling light brightness, it needs to be logarithmic taper.
Deadman Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 then you may want to use that type of potentiometer for a majority of the rotating light switches in the cockpit https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

BigfootMSR Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I am not. I dont have the electronics know how to even convert a real one to something that would work for this application. agrasyuk Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 for me the concern is not the interfacing, but the entire different league of pricing. i understand military purchasing this stuff, its not like they have budget to worry about. I however have very hard time justifying it to myself. there is a magic number, broke down and purchased real throttle assembly a year ago feeling that i did not overpay to much. i also pick up the occasional honeywell and ehc lot here and there . DM, i'd prefer to browse the available items with the price tag . i can say i'd love to see how CMSP or landing gear panel are built, was playing with the idea of getting a real stick. but i'd really like to avoid situation where you going "i went through all the effort locating the super rare part-X and this fool doesn't understand that 1xxx$ is a steal for it". so, list would be nice, really curious to see if possible Anton. My pit build thread . Simple and cheap UFC project
Deadman Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) As I would like to avoid spending hours of research on parts that i don't need or want for no reason. If no one is at least interested why would i spend the time on even making a list? These are not parts that I just have laying around I have been doing some networking and as in the environmental panel if I don't need it I offer it here If you guys don't want it or can not afford it No problem I won,t purchase it. Before you all ask no i will not just give all my sources away by posting them here. for several reasons their privacy and the fact that I don't want them bother by a large amount of email from people that have no idea that panels cost from $80 to $800.00 depending on the panels condition rarity and if it god forbid is used in the F-16 C model. Pricing is a main concern for example I have just put in several requests for remove before flight flags and pins especially for the Canopy jett pull ( I have never seen these available). It may or may not be considered a reasonable price depending on if you want it or not. Price possibly will be some where is the $35.00 to $50.00 dollar range hopefully . I will know when i receive prices in the next several days. Now I do understand there are members that are not interested in a replica cockpits real parts or dimensions and they may want to build and rebuild their cockpits as they find thing don't fit. Hooking up a mil spec switch is pretty much like any other there are some differences and special things done with say a magnetically held switch. Now I am not sure why you would put the dollar sign behind your $1000.00 crazy part amount, but hey no problem. I can tell you I have not spent that on a single part yes the pit and transporting it home cost much more. If you could find a grip yes basically an F-16 C model grip is one there now your looking at $600.00 to $800.00 for that and well the EWMU CMSP panel is all so used in the F-16 and the only one I saw before I got mine went for over $700.00 on eBay A stick no grip is an easy $300.00 or so and well and ACES II can easily run $3000.00 and up depending on type and condition for a real seat. Now do I agree with you that it would be nice to have real cheep surplus listed out on line so I could just get what I wanted when I could afford to purchase it well Ya!! Dude it would be great but it just rarely happens Edited September 22, 2014 by Deadman https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

llama Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Hey thrre DM, i didn't see where you have upgraded your rig or made any decison. Wanted to let you know my nvidia gtx770 (4gb) with i5-2500k @4ghz and 8gb of ram runs the sim at 6036x1200 (bezel correction, 3 24in monitors right now at 1920x1200 each), with mirrors on and i THINK everything high but sliders around 70% i get about 25fps. Mirrors off, 43fps. Not sure why so bad with mirrors but it is what it is. Also, this is running a10a. Will have to do a test with the C to give fully applicable numbers.
