olemetry Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 well, i wont be playing A-10C for a long while. earlier in this post i inquired why i couldnt load the pr0 file as my Saitek program only accepted *.dat files. Someone kindly told me to update the saitek program and drivers. I after I did so, my computer rebooted and now i get a BSOD c000021a error. After searching the internet, it looks like there is no real fix and a format is in order. I dont know why im posting this here. it just sucks. thanks for your time.

mrsamurai Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Interesting, I've never used names so long that couldn't fit on MFD, maybe that's a hidden saitek bug. Well, it definitely wasn't your profile; the default Saitek profile has "Left Mouse Button" listed as the name for the button next to the ministick. This just happens to be one character too long for the X52 MFD, which freezes it and makes bad stuff happen. I renamed it to "Left Mouse", and now everything is peachy.
tjhowse Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I'd just like to chime in and thank SFJB for his awesome profile! Saved me a lot of work, and it's probably better than anything I could've come up with. Good job!
Laidback Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Can you explain how you get the pinky switch to act as a button? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Berliner19 Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I cant get the Trainigs Mission to work. My Break Key dosent work.
SFJackBauer Posted October 16, 2010 Author Posted October 16, 2010 Can you explain how you get the pinky switch to act as a button? Its not assigned as a shift button in the SST profile. That way you can use it as a regular button.
shu77 Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Hey Jack, Updated profile from my side attached, along with the Manual functions added in to the picture, as I've been having a hard time figuring out what does what. Mule Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Great profile very close to what i want. How do you set the pinkie switch as a modifier in game? Many thanks for posting btw. Fighter Pilot Podcast.
Ryrrar Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Hey Jack, I think this is the exact profile I've been looking for. I've been trying to get it to work, and I've done everything needed...I think. Once I set up the profile within Saitek and make this profile the active one, my computer starts going haywire, and the 'a' command seems to become active and acts like it's being held down. i.e. if I open up a notepad it would just hold down the 'a' key (aaaaaaaaaa..etc). I have to disable the profile for this to stop. Any idea what's causing this? Thanks!
Rocky49 Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Ryrrar: It must be your slider control...make sure you move it slightly off the closed (rear) movement limit...if you are using JB profile exactly then you have to move it towards the center to stop the input of A or S (inputs for speedbrakes). Hope that helps System:Motherboard Asus ROG Strix Z390-E,Asus ROG GeForce RTX 2080Ti OC, GPU, 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 Ram, Intel i9 9900K @ 5 GHz , cooled by NZXT Kraken X52, Acer XB270HU G-Sinc monitor, Windows 10 Pro, Warthog joystick and throttle with wasy extension, VBK Gunfighter Pro and MCG Pro,MFG Rudder, running on a dedicated 1TB Samsung 970 Pro M2 Nvme , Super Wheel Stand Pro, with a HP Reverb G2
Ryrrar Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Yeah after messing around, I noticed that. That's weird :P Hope my wife doesn't come in and clean up my desk and hit the slider control and making the computer go nuts haha

Hope that helps This is why I removed the slider entirely. It was messing up things out of game and wasn't given me enough control over the speed breaks. I just left the A and S keys mapped and use them. Takes my hand off the throttle, but works just fine for me. badgenes Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 no trackir thanks again for the profile! I have no trackir, I've setup L CTRL and POV1 as my view control. This is a little annoying as I sometimes dont get the LCTRL and instead change steepoint or something else. Anyone else have any ideas on best way to do this?
kylania Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Get TrackIR. :) Seriously, it's virtually a requirement and adds a lot to the experience. If I didn't have trackIR I'd probably use the DMS hat for view (lower thumb hat) then move DMS to the Pinky+TMS (top thumb hat) instead. I'd leave plane trim as keyboard commands. For me at least that would be the most natural setup. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
badgenes Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I intend getting trackir at some point, been simming since Jet Combat on 8088 proc, so it is rather silly that I dont have it. That being said, I like your idea better than mine in the interim :) Thanks
Sarge55 Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Mule, Go to options/controls/axis commands. You'll see a button on the bottom left that says "Modifiers" click here and it will open the modifier page. In the left window there will be a list of modifier buttons you can add. Joy_Btn_6 is your "pinky switch". Click on the "add" button (it appears greyed out but does work) and it will be added to your list as a modifier. You can even rename it "Pinky" if you wish. Now when you want to assign a button a second function just assign the Pinky switch first in the modifier drop down then assign the button. Hope that was clear. Cooch Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) Great work and thanks for the profile. I have a weird problem, it worked the first time, but every time since the slider now controls throttle, the throttle does nothing. Any ideas as to what I have done wrong? Thanks!!! Working now... BTTW-DratsaB Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Does this still work as normal with BETA2? I just bought DCS:A10 yesterday and I'm trying to figure out what control map to use, I was going to make my own as that seems the best approach for learning but I am too overwhelmed by the amount of controls on the HOTAS and have no idea what is important and what is not. I made my own DCS:BS (copying the real KA50 stick and collective as close as possible which worked very well), but the A10 seems way more complicated :fear: . I am also disappointed that I cant use the Saitek profiler because of conflicts with multiple buttons modifiers. I have really enjoyed this way of working with flight sims up 'till now (always leaving in game assignments at default and then using the profiler). Anyway, I have decided I think I will try to use your Profile, SFJackBauer. However, as a mixed blessing the Beta2 is available now so I am unsure if this profile and .lua will still work, or will there be problems due to new keys/assignments in the new Beta? If I try to learn with a dodgy profile I predict it will really confuse and frustrate me when things go wrong. Seems I may have picked the wrong time to join in, My brain spins :) --------------- One slightly related question is that some of the controls on the stick do different things If they are held for a short or long period. Are there separate key inputs for each short and long press, or does it just perform the second function with a longer press of the same key combo? I'm guessing the latter. kylania Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I patched Beta 2 over Beta 1 without changing anything with my profile and everything seems to work for me, so I'm thinking it'll work with a fresh B2 install. That said it would be helpful if Jack put out an updated version since there have been control changes. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
olemetry Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 i recently had to reload the lua profile and *.pr0 file, but it does not work like it did before. I have lost the mappings for pause/break, escape, HOTAS slew , etc. i tried it a few more times and even downloaded them again from this thread but it is not the same. any thoughts?
Marcinko Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I just downloaded the beta two nights ago and immediately found your profile and followed your directions. Everything seems to be working smooth with the exception of any button related to the Pinkie switch. Example: Pinkie + POV 2 Up should provide Trim Nose Down - No dice. Am I missing something or can someone point me in the right direction to get this corrected. Does it matter which Mode I am in (1, 2, or 3). It has been driving me nuts that I cannot use anything related to the Pinkie switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW Jack this profile is great and I cannot wait to get everyting commited to memory, or close to it, so I can play like it is second nature.
