...I know, I know - I should just shut up and wait for it.. but I can't seem to handle the pressure of waiting too well

Prepurchase and test the beta, if you can't wait ;)

Pre-order and get the beta. Even though there are bugs and some functions not complete, it's still a ball playing it. And by the game is out you have learned the controls and systems, ready to take off into battle :)

I'm glad that DCS made this offer.

Yes if you cant wait no reason what so ever to not buy the beta.

Its very very playable and the stuff thats implemented is very polished i think.

Very few crashes. Some performance issues but that about it.

If you will be buying it later just do it now so you can learn the systes :D

I wouldnt be surprised if ETA is now 2011, hence the decision to release the beta to the public.

Stops people from moaning "if indeed it is delayed til 2011" cause atleast they get there hands on the beta and atleast get to play with the sim.

If I was a betting man, which I am not, I would put money on it not being released this year, hence the beta release for those who pre-purchase and which will keep the majority, if not all of the community quiet when 2010 comes to an end.

It also depends on what they / we find testing the beta - so buy it now, install and start testing!

There are a couple of loose ends, bugs and some optimization to be done. The sum of it might seem overwhelming, but ED's team has done an amazing job over the last weeks and months. If they say they want it released 2010, I'm sure they can do it. (Unless something unforeseen happens)

I'll be very surprised with a 2010 release. I'm between a rock and a hard place on this one. I know the weapons do not work correctly yet and thus is reluctant to start learning how to use them fully. I'm toying with the mavs and CCIP bombing but there seems too much still to do to seriously go into it. Even the gun seems weak!! I have to use almost my 1/2 my ammo to take out one T55 with it. WIP I know!! :D

So just flying around finding weird ways to break things on the bird at this stage :D

With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

Most of the reports I read were due to user-error. You can kill a T-55 easily with your gun if you get the right angle and make use of the PAC.

I recommend this read:

http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_053c.html

You can't simply point you gun at something and pretend it will blow up on first hit. Also make sure you have the right ammo loaded ;)

Mavericks lack the stabilization ATM, which is quite okay, since not all Mavericks have Ground Stabilize and you can very well aim without it, if you keep your plane stable. It's just a bit more realistic than with your LO/FC A-10A.

CCIP works nice in 3/9 configuration. If you want to toss your bomb, that's a different story.

I'm not too fussed to be honest. I am a happy camper right now i have SOMETHING to fly. The systems are almost there and there is a boat load of depth there. We are finding which systems, mavs, pgms, for instance, which are WIP and we can work around them. there are still months of enjoyment before i even start on the campaign missions and with regular beta updates promised we will be having a mini xmas every time one of those comes out. “WAYEY, voice overs are in”, and “W00T, Mavericks work”.

I can wait, and with the TM Hotas coming next week, ED can take as long as they want to polish this gem as far as I am concerned. Hopefully with the funds generated from us beta testers, they are under slightly less pressure to release and will do the right thing. They did it with BS. “When it’s done” is absolutely the right way to go in this industry.

For sure, ED has done an amazing job and I am saying that without even having played it yet.

If ED wants to release it this year and are adamant about sticking to their schedule, I am positive they can do it with what all is left to do.

I dont know what all is left to do or how buggy the beta is ? as I havent bought it yet due to me building my new rig tomorrow or thursday, but rest assured once I have, I will jump right in there and test this baby out for myself.

I personally do not care when it comes out, as long as it is good when its released and most major bugs are found and fixed before release, it wouldnt bother me to wait another 6 months, because good things come to those who wait :pilotfly:

How About An Update to the BETA

Now that we got the commentary on the ETA for the release date out of the way,... when's the 1st update on the BETA to arrive? Will we get a notification on this Forum, or will the notification of its arrival be posted on the BETA Forum?

ED said they will be releasing a special update tool for the beta. They also said beta updates every 2 weeks. So about a week or so untill the first update :)

Its going to take me many months just to get used to my HOTAS (X52Pro, untill I can afford the TMWH) lol.

So no rush. Would be nice if fixing the wingman was a priority so I can fly with him instead of him getting lost. But thats no big issue as I still learning just to fly my own aircraft :megalol::megalol::lol:

You can pre-purchase the Digital download, which allows access to the Beta, as a bonus. The Boxed copy is not included, sorry.

I would say unless these guys work fast it will not be out in 2010. There's still many things that need fixed. That being said, I'm sure we do not have the most up-to-date release yet.

All I can say is buy it - get the beta - because you're going to need a lot of time mastering the systems. Also, the beta is very flyable and a heck of a lot of fun.

I am very pleased they decided to release the beta, and I hope we are providing valuable feedback so they will do it again with their next release. :smilewink:

Lets not rush this just to get it gold by the end of the year! I like how they released open beta for those who want something now. I think getting the sim gold before January would be rushing it out, which is usually a bad thing. I think gold by 1st Q 2011 is possible though for those that want an actual disc/box.

As much as I would love having it by the end of 2010 there still needs to be work done. But I don't mind flying the beta and learning as much as I can in the mean-time. So they can take their time if it gets us a completed and polished Hog.

^^ That is the only thing stopping me from buy it now. I really want the beta, but I really want the box as well - the box itself, the stuff inside, the original DVD with graphics printed on it - just opening a box for a new game is so satisfying...

Its so hard to decide
