It would be wort it if we could get a patch, after all there was mentioned about a autoupdater.

( And no stupid remarks from Ed tester team, you already have updates frequently :joystick::pilotfly: )

Pre-Purchase "DCS: A-10C Warthog"

Beta version will be updated approximately every two weeks.

Would you like a broken beta version every 2 weeks on time, or an improved beta version when it's viable when it's available? ;)

I'm impatiently waiting for the next version as much as the next guy and each day we get past the 18th makes me more and more anxious, but I'd rather wait till it's ready then get something that won't work as well as what we have now.

Besides, TM WH is still two weeks away. heh

I think every improvement would help, after all it's already broken (Beta remember?), or else why even mention it in the Pre-Purchase post?

Maybe it's just me, but since I way back have been waiting for a 1.13 patch, and later the 2.0 came, that we had to pay extras for, without even patching to fix Navigation, it's already dead to me.

So ,if next patch will only be a final one, it will be just another broken promise from developers, and I wonder if they care at all but the money...

We paid for the final product, not for timely beta patches. If there's only one more beta patch that's not a broken promise in anyway.

ED does obviously care a lot, which is why they are working their butts off to improve the gameplay for the final version. As they reach stable builds for the beta we get to upgrade to those as we go along.

However, all of this beta and any beta versions before the game is retail released is all just a bonus. You don't have to play right now, you don't have to deal with bugs and missing features and waiting every two weeks. Just sit back and wait for the game to come out.

Than wait for the inevitable patches afterwords. :)

Yeah.....maybe. In an attempt to understand, you're whining about the update being 3 days late? What part of 'approximately' is that difficult to understand?

Is the pre-purchase worth it

Yes

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

To be fair, in today's Internet Age "3 days" is basically a lifetime. ;)

Then you seriously need to have a long, hard look at your priorities :)

Really... No, Really...

As every update will help, every update could hurt as well. I've beta tested many games in my life, things will NEVER go according to plan or schedule and to think you're "entitled" to something is a bit rediculous.

The posting clearly stated they were planning to update every two weeks. They did not for one moment say "We, ED, promise you, BuzyBat, that we will release an update every two weeks starting from the release of the beta.

Now, don't get me wrong, I would have liked an update the next day to "fix" some things. Have I been on here sulking about that? Nope. My friend, you shoud learn that life doesn't always go according to plan. You plan, then you overcome obstacles.

Time will tell, I'm probably gone pessimistic, because I don't even expect a patch the next two weeks. (Then simply please remove that line in Pre-Purchase :) )

Maybe you can tell me how many patches you and the rest of Ed testers have recieved, because if it's less than once a week I could understand your beeing so defensive.

A simple Torrent with a patch that already made for Ed testers, would do fine, no need to put lot of extra work to document it.

Ask yourself this -

Would you rather that ED didn't release any beta for us to play with and just released teaser vids of internal testing while we wait for the final release?

Just think of ED as the Blizzard of flight sims - they'll release it when it's ready and the finished product is usually extremely polished.

1. You fly the best sim ever out for any commercial platform.

2. You fly it now, before it's out.

3. It's the A-10C!

4. It's 85% completed (my own assumption).

5. It will only get better and when it does you'll know how to fly it!

Never say never, Baby!

I think we're way ahead of that. I predict that we get one more update before final release.

I think participating in the beta is better than waiting for the final release. I'm sure that when the next beta version comes out the excitement of seeing/trying what was fixed will equal the excitement of the original install. :)

Thanks again for allowing this ED, can't wait for the next update!

Well...I enjoyed DCS A-10C beta for only a few days. I'm finding it's still quite limited as far as what's possible. I'm unable to play the campaign without crashes. Several cockpit switches trigger other things to happen requiring many of the key commands to be memorized, including all key commands on the HOTAS which I thought we matured out of after Flaming Cliffs, in-game performance is quite unoptimized, various weapon systems such as the TGP are buggy, and pixelate after bhot/whot changes. Many training missions still lack voiceovers, and the trigger system for event changes is very buggy. Voice comms aren't there yet. And multiplayer isn't 100% yet. This really only leaves you with the quickstart missions that replay the same voiceover in each one, and free flying, which is not a bad thing to have fun with, but it isn't that impressive 7 days later. You can do just as much learning about weapons and flying by reading through the manual as everyone else and not really be "behind" when the final version is released. Hand flying the A-10 isn't that hard at all, actually much easier than the Su-25 in FC. The main thing is don't deflect the stick fully aft, or it'll spin around like an Extra 300.

Good definition of what a "beta" is there. Very handy for people who might have somehow mistaken it for a finished game. :)

Its worth it if you really can't wait till December to get your hands on an A10C. As 636_Castle said there isn't much "play" in the game yet, the clickable cockpit modelling is very close to complete and the instant action is there but the training is unfinished as are the campaigns.

Fortunatley for me I've spent all my time trying to learn the TAD, DSMS and CDU systems so I haven't even had the time to seriously attempt any of the quick missions to the point were I would be bored, by the time December roles around I should be cable enough to play the campaign. I couldn't learn the systems by just reading the manual I need to play with the buttons for the info to go in.:book::joystick:

It may be different for you guys coming from a serious F4 background but I have to say, that although you might be able to learn the aircraft for the manual, theres a weeks worth of cold starts before you start to get the hang of what the switches are doing.

Then things like figuring out how to set an SOI Which you can do by tapping HJK or by doing a long tap on the coolie hat, or change waypoints during a flight, before you start trying to bring it all together and actually fly one of the Instant Actions. A couple weeks in flying 4-5 hours a week (the most Ive done in ages) and I'm yet to start figuring the finer points like how to set a waypoint of my own, or how the TGP actually works. I havent even fired up the "frakin" laser yet...

There is a lot of work to do, but I am finding that I'm glad of the opportunity to get to make a new friend, and get used to how my HOTAS drives it. If your hardware will support it you get the finished game anyway, so why would you want to wait to get started?
