Mule Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 In an effort to practice using Mavericks using Tygers excellent video tutorials i set up 4 static T-80's and a column of 10 fuel trucks as target practice. I load up with 3 IR Mavs, some rockets and a couple of MK 82's. To destroy everything it takes me a good 25 minutes and this is starting in the air about 15 miles away. I try not to get to close in effort to stay out of range of the T-80's by breaking left or right a 2 to 3 miles away. I also try to destroy 3 tanks with mavs in the first pass this is usually not a problem. Then i try the column of fuel trucks with rockets and then guns. Like i say this takes me in total about 25 minutes roughly. How long would it usually take you? am i taking to long? Fighter Pilot Podcast.
WarriorX Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Well, it is hard to speculate, but I would say that for sure I could do it faster now in Beta 2 than Beta 1. Thanks to the Maverick improvements. If I had 2 Triple Ejector Racks of 3 Mavericks each, and the Tanks are grouped somewhat close together, then I would say 2 Mavericks per pass would be a good start. One more pass to get the last of the 2 tanks, and if the fuel trucks are still in a column, then it's GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! for the last pass. So 3 passes would be a good start, 2 if your really getting good locks at 5-6 km. One pass, ingress and egress would take me about 2-3 min, so 6-9 minutes of total time engaging would be an estimate. Remember to manage your inbound speed to reduce your closure time, thus giving you more time on the inbound runs, and then accelerate outbound for egress. MTFDarkEagle Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I guess fire some mav's from a distance, and finish the rest off with the gau-8 baby! But that entirely depends on the payload and situation :P Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread

Flamin_Squirrel Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Any tips for killing T-80s with the gun? I tried to kill one, focusing on hitting it in the rear, but didn't manage to kill it.
MTFDarkEagle Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 try and hit the damn thing :P j/k :) Track? Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Frederf Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 If I was good with the avionics (big if!) and they are static not near any waypoint: Point HUD at tank group, move TDC in the general area, set as SPI Right hand orbit at 7nm (laser unreliable after 8nm) TGP to that SPI in BHOT/WHOT area mode Slew, lase, and precision mark the four targets as markpoints A B C D Make a flight plan of those four marks and set that plan as active Turn off auto steerpoint stepping Attack those waypoints with some stuff.
