coolts Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 I wasn't in a dive or anything. No more than -5 (but I wouldn't swear on that). I just re-ran the scenario and made damn sure i was level and my bomb hit spot on, (the ground). I have the track file of the original incident which i will look at tomorrow. Going to hook tacview up. I've heard it can be persuaded to work with the beta. Pity it cant open trk files. ps. GBU-10 is my current favourite way to inflict mayhem, (apart from when i am practicing for the aviation darwin awards :music_whistling:) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7 9700k | 32gb DDR4 | Geforce 2080ti | TrackIR 5 | Rift S | HOTAS WARTHOG | CH PRO Pedals
Panzertard Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 You forgot to do a proper walkaround. You would have spotted the chalk with your name on the side of the GBU. 1 The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
Succellus Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) I managed to hit myself with my own AIM-9. Still have no idea how it happened. That must be a Modern combat flight sim world record. Maybe mal function ? Should be interesting to see the TRK, but i suppose you don t have it. Now that i m thinking of it, i remember that in one sim, i was about to bomb a site and was hit by a flak or some shots and my bombs exploded before release, Would that happen in DCs A10 ? coolts Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) Well, convinced I had been a dunmbas, I dutifully reviewed the .TRK and apart from a few mistakes, (leaving my lights on, second mav attack too close to SAM site), I was doing okay. The PIBL got a bit squirrelly as I got near release but the action takes place at 57:08 as I release GBU-10 bomb with +1 pitch. At this point the enemies remaining forces consist of 2 x BTR-80's and 2 x T-55's, none of which seem a threat. The bomb separates and falls away. Two seconds later I have 0 pitch. One second later I am a fireball! I looks like the falling bomb exploded and took me out in the blast. Either that or I spontaneously combusted. Please have a look guys and see if you can spot what I did wrong, (apart from what I mentioned). [ATTACH]44476[/ATTACH] Second fly through was carbon copy and worked fine. sobek Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) Pitch at release does not matter. You can release a bomb inverted if you maintain >1G during and after the release without being hit. If you say you released at positive pitch and a second later you had zero pitch, you pulled neg G and intersected the bomb flight path. I haven't reviewed your track but from you description this sounds like the most obvious course of events. Edited November 12, 2010 by sobek Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Not a bomb collision that i could see. My pitch change was slow, not violent at all. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7 9700k | 32gb DDR4 | Geforce 2080ti | TrackIR 5 | Rift S | HOTAS WARTHOG | CH PRO Pedals

leobasil Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Spontaneous human combustion is a rare but real event. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spontaneous_human_combustion I think DCS did a great job in implementing this very rare incident into their simulation and thereby increasing the realism by another coupler percent! Georgio Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 My guessing is that some 12mm from the tanks hit the bomb as it come off your plane and caused premature detonation...if you switch to the tank view and listen real close you can hear them laughing their socks off :D
Succellus Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 In the track can someone see a mud mover firing in his direction ? Could it be a fuse failure ? A barometric fuse set to detonate at X altitude ? A time fuse improperly set ? Have to be a big bird to detonate a bomb ? Wingman was told to STAY PUT around the IP whilst i took out all the anti-air defences. It was my mission, (i can post that), so there were no hidden enemies. This is a very weird one.
