The Truth Behind ProFlight Simulator And Flight Pro Sim It's back...now as ProFlight Simulator (www.proflightsimulator.com). Last year when we first heard about Flight Pro Sim (flightprosim.com) we were excited to think there was a new sim available. However, some research determined that this is nothing more than a boxed version of the well known and long available Flight Gear open source simulator. While there's nothing illegal about any of this, if you want Flight Gear you can download it for free from the Flight Gear web site (www.flightgear.org).

How disingenious and down-right dishonest.

I haven't checked out the other two packages, but for a 'limited time offer' he's throwing in 'Aeron for free' ... Aeron is GPL, and is free to get one way or another.

The flight planner and scenery maker are also available for free, and are used with flight gear.

And seems like is fishing some fellow simmers.

If so, then that is e-Darwinism in action.

Someone needs to report the fecker, not even a contact email or address within the site.

I cannot believe this illegal type of distribution has not been shut down yet, WTF is going on here.

Well, as laughable as it may seems, technically it's not illegal. Flight Gear is released under GPL license, and you can sell GPL software as long as you offer to provide source code. Isn't cruel the e-Darwinism?

That is cruel, that is cruel indeed. I guess the best we can do to combat it is spread the word of it's corruption.

Sorry for the fellas who bought it this way though, lesson learned and at least hopefully they can have some fun with the product.
