tobbjo Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Hi all. I am pretty new to this sim, so please have patience with me. I have a problem with understanding the autopilot. When flying on with auto heading enabled, the KA-50 still doesnt go straight ahead. Same problem with autohover. My idea of autohover is that when enabled the KA-50 would stand still over the same spot on the ground with the nose at the same direction. This is pretty hard to accomplish, with my gear and for me atleast. Should I be able to easily accomplish this? Or is hovering harder than pushing a button :-) It is a bit anoying when I want to focus on locking a target to always have to correct the heading. Many thanks in advance 1

Bucic Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Welcome :) Please post a track (the GUI manual says how to do it). Otherwise we could spend few days trying to figure out what is wrong. I'm about to hit MP servers. If you catch me on one of the TeamSpeak channels I can guide you through the process quickly. The details are always in my signature. In the meantime just go through the articles provided by viper. tobbjo Posted December 5, 2010 Author Posted December 5, 2010 That was fast. I will try the suggested reading / training. Many thanks for now.
Spetz Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 As well..when you go into autohover, there are certain pre-requisities that have to be met such as speed maximums, height, etc. You just can't hit the button and expect it to work. It is all in the manual. As well, with any significant wind, you will most likely turn into the wind, but that's what you have the 'ol anti-torque pedals for. One way to avoid turning into the wind when hunting and in a hover is when you are using the Shkval, turn on "turn to target". That way your helicopter will stay pointed the same direction the the Shkval is pointed. Hope it helps 1
Kite Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 (edited) NIce links. I am a bit confused on one thing. The correct use of the trim is: 1. move cyclic rudder etc... push the trim and de-press it and recenter the joy quickly or... 2 push trim and keep pressed ... move cyclic ..de-press trim... center joy. What is the correct one? I ask you this because sometimes i read is correct n. 1 sometims is correct n. 2 Thank you Edited December 11, 2010 by Kite
159th_Viper Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 No 1 is correct. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Click me to commence your Journey of Pillage and Plunder! CarneyUK Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 No 1 is correct. ?? I'm a noob so may be wrong, but does the trimmer button not disingage the trimmer function? I always push and hold the trim button, get to my new heading/pitch/etc and then let go off the trim button. I find it easier and feel that without it pressed the aircraft is fighting me?? BKLronin Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 I use both depends on the case. While flying I mostly use the second version. But Viper is def right in RL they use method one as seen on "tv". [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jazjar Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 well, I mostly use n. 2 function because n.1 results in unintended jumps from the flight regime, while n.2 is mare smooth. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frederf Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 The reason #1 is used in the real Ka-50 is that the trim button disconnects the feel spring. Holding down the button results in a very loose and floppy cyclic.
