I hope the OP reports back after they install the new CPU, I'd be interested to know just how "CPU bottlenecked" this sim is as everyone seems to say. The fact that fps doubled from just a graphics card upgrade suggests otherwise to me.

where did you get it? I dont thnk its hits market for a few more days.

Unless I'm reading it wrong the Overclockers website screwed up.

I saw the P8P67 Mobo and 2500K on the site this lunchtime and ordered them, 2 hours later they were listed as unavailable again. Looks like it was an error to me.

I guess I'm in the queue for them though so here is hoping i get them on release day.

A little longer to wait I guess. I'm glad I hadn't started dismantling my current system in preparation :)

Hi folks,

I have an Asus EEE PC and of course a standard PC where I installed DCS:-A-10C and FC2. Question: I know there is a utility that allows players to use multiple screens to play FC2 , Ka-50 to get the instrument panels on 2 or more screens.

Problem is that I can't connect 2 monitors on the same PC.Do I need to buy a special TV card for this? Or is there a way to duplicate the output video signal to 2 monitors (with a video adaptator maybe?) I don't have HDMI. Classic VGA ports...

But even If I manage to plug 2 monitors on my main PC, will I be able to run such a utility on a 10 inches Asus EEE PC 100H screen? I would love to see some instruments on this second monitor. :-)

You can't duplicate the output as you need 2 separate signals, so unless you have a video card with 2 outputs you will need a secondary video card (not a TV card - TV card is used as antena input for the PC to watch TV channels)

PC specs:

Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

2600k at stock speeds destroys everything except the 980x. From AMD it takes an 1100t at 4ghz to come close to it in most tests, some it is still way behind.

I am waiting for Bulldozer Zardinia or WTF ever the codename is for the octo core AMDs. They should be out next month I thought. I was about to pull the trigger on 1100t until I saw how SB demolishes it. At 4.5ghz the 2600k makes anything from AMD look like a P4. Lets hope Bulldozer is not just a name and does some intel demolishing to keep the field close. From what I have seen 2600k is about the same price as 1100t. If AMD drops prices to below $200 I may be interested again. If not, I will have to keep a single intel PC in my house. 4 more days till launch in USA.

I seen some videos of triple monitor goodness and I think I might be sold. I have a GTX 580 right now. I'm thinking of picking up another and running SLI with three monitors. What kind of frame rates can I expect with that setup, some people are saying SLI doesn't provide a performance boost. Anyone here with a similar setup care to speak up. I have 12 GB RAM and SSD RevoDrive, and AMD x6 Phenom 1100T @ 3.8Ghz per core. I currently get anywhere from 20 to 50 fps in flight.

How much ram is good for a10? I have 4 gigs of rem, do you think increasing rem to say 8gb will have an important effect?

I can't say for A-10C directly but when I went from 4 GB to 8 GB ( running a 64-bit OS) my fps in DCS:Black Shark went up by 15-20 fps. This surprised me greatly as I had not expected any significant increase. My only guess is that with the extra RAM there is less (to no need0 to access the virtual disk on the hard drive.

I think various people are having different benefits with sli/crossfire. Some with degraded performace using sli/crossfire, some none and some do.

I use crossfire and I do get an improvement that I can see right away with the inbuilt FPS meter. Some people cant get it working. I use older drivers but they seem to work best for my card.

After reading some posts I also got 2 ssd;s yesterday. a 60gig vertex 2 for win 7 and a 12gig vertex 2 for games.

Hasn't really made a difference except oad times. I cant see I notice an improvement in game. Thats with a i7 920 at 3.8 and 5970 running eyefinity.

I ask better - what would you choose for: 2x 460 or 1 better card? I know unfortunetaly DCS will not use SLI but another games yes, so logically better SLI but I am not sure :)

IMHO, between those two, you should always get the more powerful single card for the same or similar amount of money. Then later when the prices drop significantly, you can add another. It makes no sense to buy two cards from the beginning unless there is a significant price/performance difference.

I have a feeling that the OP had a very messed up O/S before, and the performance gains came from the new reinstall of Windows, and not so much from the SSD.

Hi Sharpe - Not sure if you posted in this thread by accident? I don't have an SSD, nor have I reinstalled windows! I keep my PC very clean with a registry scanner, adaware, perfectdisk, avg etc etc (all of which get disabled when I play games!)

Literally all I did was switch out my old card with the new one and change drivers.

Few other people adviced exactly same, so I'll buy one uber strong card then :)

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Definitely the best idea in my opinion, SLI seems to cause more problem that it solves!

New parts arrived, put together, and working (apparently!)...I will get my new windows install maintenance done then let you know how much of a difference a new CPU makes compared to a new GPU! Expect results within the next few hours! :-)

running on a Dell 30" Monitor at 256 x 1600 without any hickups what so ever, I should imagine you could run 3 x monitos at 1920 x 1200 no problems if you have the ports on the GTX 580

How are the results of your new PC Conure?

Please try the missions I just created HERE. In my humble opinion they are a masterpiece in modern chaos. They're the same, but one is at night (and looks awesome!) Post your average FPS (CTRL + Pause twice).

Mission Overview:

You're sitting on the runway. There are several friendly helos orbiting the runway with manpads, ZSUs, and SAs firing at them. A flight of A10s and AH64s are taking the AAA out. 50 MLRSs from each side are trading punches in front of you. And there's a gunbattle going on to your left. All your FPS are belong to us.

Also, I created an FPS Reference Mission. This is less taxing on the vid card, but allows contrasts between high/low loads very quickly.

It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
