Severum Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I just got my Saitek X52, brand new today, The joy stick is not at all working, nor is the profile editor, the throttle works perfectly, the joystick has no response what so ever and the profile editor crashes when I try to create a profile. I am running Win7 64bit. I am kind of aggravated with all of this see being I am now snowed in and I have no clue when mailing will return to normal in the event I have to send it back. Any ideas guys? I have found almost no help online. Check Out My Youtube Channel! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc1wxp38k2oBAHIXUR20hjQ Like-Share-Subscribe!
ilikepie Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 check all the obvious stuff first, cable connections from stick to throttle, the pins in the cable, drivers, latest software versions etc. a different cable if there is one one hand...... does the stick light up at all? is it seen by windows in the usb game controllers panel? try re- installing both the drivers and software, running as admin on both install and when running the SST. tried saitek forums for info? Rusty_M Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Did you install the drivers and software from the disc or from Saitek's website. I would suggest using the website if you haven't http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php the drop down menus there should give you what you need. The world is going mad. Me? Total Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 If you have loaded the correct drivers for your OS and the LCD screen on the throttle isn't blue, then try another USB port. Hint: The X52 doesn't like being plugged into an un-powered USB hub (I learned this the hard way lol)
Rusty_M Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Are all the lights on the throttle and stick illuminating? The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine! http://www.twitch.tv/rusty_the_robot https://www.youtube.com/user/RustyRobotGaming
Sarge55 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 All the above but also try programming directly in game as well. SST can be a bit finicky. Once you have it working then try SST out but programing directly in game takes out one variable to the problem. ilikepie Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 and keep any key stroke names in the SST under 15 characters long or it could cause more problems. Action After Contemplation
walker450 Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Don't worry about SST for now... just get windows to see it working first.... start>control panel>game controllers> then click on x-52 if you see it and see what is and isn't responding.... Severum Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 The throttle LCD and what not is glowing, the joystick is flashing. The throttle works in game, I have it set and it works perfectly, the joystick however does not want to respond at all. The SST Program crashes when ever I try to change the controls. Rusty_M Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Sounds like you're running an old version of the SST program. Have you tried downloading the newest version of the program and drivers from Saitek rather than the disc? I can't remember if the flashing joystick is a known problem or not. I just had a quick look around, and there are some vague solutions to the flashing stick thing. It may be solved by uninstalling the drivers, then installing them by using a different USB port, or it could signify a dead unit. The world is going mad. Me? Wolf Rider Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Maybe if Saitek/ TM had an uninstaller/ cleaner so swapping to another USB wouldn't be necessary? Sarge55 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I've had an X-52 for over three years and I can confirm that both the throttle and the joystick should be a USB connection. No P/S 2 connector. ilikepie Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) Thats what I thought when I First purchased it, so I also got a USB Hub, which has yet to come -.- But yeah no the joystick doesnt plug into a USB port, the Throttle does. Idk it makes no sense at all. ok i'm with ya now. the stick does run to the throttle and from the throttle to pc via usb, a nine pin s vga-ish cable from memory for the stick to throttle connection. i found with mine that one specific end of the cable had to go to the stick and one to the throttle otherwise the stick was inaccurate. i just put nail polish on the throttle and the "best" end for it. Shoulda been ok no matter which end was used but twas not the case. can you say "idiosyncratic" EDIT: Severum, have you been plugging the stick into the mother board via the mouse keyboard ports? if so plug it into the throttle, there is a port on the front, and re test, this would be the cause of the problem if thats what you have done........ Bulletstop Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Yea it has to go into the throttle with the svideo cable. That should fix your stick issue.
