Hey, guys. I was just flying the quick mission and after a few hits from a ZSU-23, I started going down. No clue why. Both engines still show full power. No warning lights on. Only thing Ekran's bitching about is the radar altimeter. Blades appear to be OK. I just can't stay in the air. Managed to come down slow enough for a hard landing. F2 shows a few holes in the skin, but engines look fine. Rudder has a slight nick. A few panels blown. Nothing critical looking.

Had this happen before, and no clue whats wrong. I tried to lift off again, and no go. Copter tries to gain to air, but only manages an inch or two. Blades are spinning hard. WTF? Any way to get data off of the Ekran or such?

Well, I didn't keep the track, but I'm sure it will happen again. Next time I'll save the track. If multiple things are wrong, isn't Ekran supposed to scroll a list? All the Ekran ever kept saying was Radar Alt. No other warning lights on the Master Caution Panel or on the Overhead Panel. Both Engines at full speed, 8000 RPM. Forgot to check if the blades were torquing, but I think they were. I'll keep a track if it happens again. All switches looked fine, and the fire extinguisher section showed no extinguishers ever firing. I can remember, this has happened before.

I've had it happen a bunch. In every case for me it was because the engines were partially dammaged, you could see lots of bullet holes in the engine compartments on both sides. The engines were operating at reduced power.

After a bunch of times I could still keep it airborne only by dumping all weapons the second I saw I was loosing power. Another big factor with reduced engine power is fuel. Fuel is HEAVY.

If you had a full fuel tank you are going down no matter what, but if it was in the 40%-25% range there is a chance you can limp it home. I usually always have the groundcrew pull fuel off the chopper because its always 100% full and most times you only need 50% or less and still have plenty if you make it home.

Yeah, it really felt like I didn't have power, yet the engines showed full power at 8000 RPM and the rotors are blazing away! I didn't hear the rotors or the engines slow down any. Seems like something is not being shown right in the damage model. I tried to pull the lasttrack.trk file from the temp folder, but for some reason it shows a mission I haven't flown in a month. Strange. Strange.

Lol, no weather was summer day, with no wind. Thinking about it, its probably something like the back turbine fan blade that receives power from the jet got a bunch of holes and damage. So, while the engine itself is running fine, the fan is losing energy transfer from it, due to being badly damaged.
