Sinky Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 For me seems smoother. Like the additional touches in the start up and cockpit - master warnng going off at points and armed seat (HOW does one arm the seat, BTW??). One thng I noticed, and I don't know if it is realism cranked up a notch or I did something wrong, at ramp start I tried to tune to local ATS: got an awful screech in my ear (not squelch) and the radio was not raising ATS. Really brought back memories of porked radios. Bug..OR realism..OR I did something wrong?? Anyone else had this? But great sim! Well done ED! apoll out The noise from the radio might have something to do with the warning sound they added if you tune your radio out of range or something like that. I've also tested another 4 GBU-12's and they all hit spot on the laser, only thing I noticed is that the GBU-12 seems to lag for the first meter when it comes off the rail. Arming levers are usualy on the left side of the seat from my experience, least it was on the F16. RogueRunner Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Is the IR launch detection fixed in the final release. I won't be able to test for a coupe of days still so wondering. Take up a 2 ship with a MANPAD somewhere. See if you get a launch detection when they launch against your wingie. You should!! In the BETAS you only got the launch detection when they actually fired at you! With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

redbaron_ict Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 FPS has gone way up for me was hitting 30-40, in cockpit looking straight ahead, with BETA 4 Withe the Final I'm now getting 45-65 FPS in cockpit looking straight ahead. Looking Right or Left is in the 70-90 range. HUD only is 120+ This release is full of WIN!! 636_Castle Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 First impression is...AWESOME! The flight model has clearly been adjusted too. There's also some corrections on things like lamps, and gauges. New GAU sound is fricken sweet...can almost smell the gun when you fire it now. I'd still have to say my favorite tweak is the flight model though. They really listened to the community on that one, and it's now totally flawless. Doing some sweet gun runs with that classic high alpha exit no problem! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] How To Fix Your X-52's Rudder!

nomdeplume Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Do all of the F15E pictures appearing during the install provide a clue to the next aircraft being released? Lots of speculation, which is fun, but I'd try not to make too much of it... to avoid disappointment. They'll announce it soon enough. The F-15 is one of the graphical models that was updated for this module, so it makes sense they'd want to show it off. Dangerous to read too much into it, I think.

It's a distraction and decoy... making us think what they want us to think while the real plane remains cloaked. :P [sigpic]http://www.virtualthunderbirds.com/Signatures/sig_LD.jpg[/sigpic] Virtual Thunderbirds, LLC | Sponsored by Thrustmaster Corsair 750D Case | Corsair RM850i PSU | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X CODE | 32GB Corsair DDR4 3200 | Intel i7-8086K | Corsair Hydro H100i v2 Cooler | EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW | Oculus Rift | X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty | Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1TB NVMe | Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB | WD Caviar Black 2 x 1TB | TM HOTAS Warthog | TM Pendular Rudder | TM MFD Cougar Pack | 40" LG 1080p LED | Win10 |

Insanatrix Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Seems to be tweaked for the better. I'm just going off my limited experience with B4 but overall the FM seems to be tighter, the jets thrust seems to have improved though it's not huge just slightly noticeable.

Seems the solution is to clear the function you want to assign something to first before making the assignment. With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

Lixma 06 Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 First impressions were, sadly, the crash-happy controls setup. Second impressions on the other hand....:):):):):):) Love the new cloud shadows/lighting.....makes for a really nice ambience (perhaps a bit too subtle?).

Thermal Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Seems like ED checked the "buttery smooth" flag in the code. GAU-8 slowdowns - gone, and I get 5-10fps everywhere else... and thats comparing to *before* I maxed all the config options. So I'm thinking I'm about 40% better off than before. The GAU-8 sounds... mean :)
MadTommy Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 After a real struggle to setup my HOTAS... The good: Love the new sounds, good optimisation (high fps), good looking lighting, TGP alignment bug fixed!!, flight feels very nice, stable etc The bad: annoying warning alarm for 1st 2 minutes of startup (but if its realistic, fair enough), HOTAS setup crashes & bugs. The ugly: Fog still looks crap from above, new radio menu (I really don't want to see this on my screen, what's the point of it?) From my 1st flight it's looking very good, Thanks ED, greeeat Sim. :) i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music.
