EtherealN Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 link? Sounds to me like you're just running out of vRAM and lowering texture setting would fix it for you. Q: I sometimes see black buildings and black clouds, what is wrong? A: Your system is probably running out of system RAM. Try lowering your graphics setting; in particularly Textures, Scenes, and Visib Range. We recommend a 64-bit OS with at least 4 GB of RAM. LukeSky Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) @StrongArm I wasn't expecting to run this game at 50fps solid with my specs, but the previous beta 4 game performance was way better than the final release and not only in my opinion, a lot of other users are complaining on this forum about this. You are correct, I don't have a rocket PC like yours, but I can fairly play every single game released recently. Just for your information (I know that this is not not a new game but he was a game know as a huge resource hogger) I can play LockOn FC2 at max graphic setting smoothly. What I'm saying is that the game at this point in my opinion still have big optimization problems. If this simulator to run need at last 8GB of memory a x64 bit OS and a GTX570 it should have be advertised and its clearly not. My computer is much more above the minimum system requirements but even with my specs the game is unplayable. This sim run pretty well on my computer, i7 950, but with a really old video card "gtx260". I simply cannot put the screen resolution at 1680x1050 but at 1280x768 I have 44fps (min) but the average is above 80fps. water at low, shadow at low and everything else at high. The first thing you have to do is lower your screen resolution, most of people that are complaining for low fps was because of their video card having a hard time to render images at higher resolution. Don't blame the dev. team, blame your budget. The option screen is there to configure the sim with the hardware that you have. the minimum requirement (for all software) mean that you'll be able to play it with this requirement but at everything low. This is common for all software. turbotrixie Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Hoping for a mod to restore the old GAU-8 sound, I actually dont enjoy the new one... This release sure runs nice though! And the missions seems to have been beefed up a tad! Now to remember everything one knew when playing beta 4 months ago! Yes I own both DCS simulations but cant be assed figuring out how to place those fancy pictures here. I also own a computer with several parts in it!
LukeSky Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 My system is almost 5yrs old.. with just an updated vid card. My performance is gained by putting time into the fitness of my system to do what I need it to do. Why am I so happy with release? Could I be lying and receiving kickbacks from ED? :) not likely... so maybe there's something to be considered here? If you believe that beta4 ran better than release I would suggest that you have bigger system problems than just how DCS runs. I wish you luck. I want your video card. I'm out of budget. Damn course. StrongHarm Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 @StrongArm I'm work in and I am an IT Slave ever since I can remember lol. It's good that you have some IT experience, you have one up on most users. Remember though, that a sim isn't like other 'games' that you might play. Sims are to games what a fighter jet is to an airliner. I owe much of my troubleshooting and optimization experience to all the work I had to put into getting sims to run well back in the 80s and early 90s. Of course, you won't have to put that much effort into it these days.. this is a MUCH better product. It will require some attention though. How do you weigh features, graphics, content, realism, modern code, etc. against hardware and system fitness? I think ED has done a pretty damned good job of it. I'm looking forward to updates and new products. Where do I purchase stock?! ROFL @ PEBCAC! EtherealN.. you kill me man. dario_u Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 @CVSiN Yes the new i7 2600K SB is a great CPU at an even greater price, the situation is still unclear with the CPU design issues but I guess they fixed the problem and restart shipping the CPU now. I will wait a bit and see what's happening...also there aren't much motherboard around at the moment... But I don't want to hijack this thread, so mods are free to move this post to another more appropriate subforum.
jtmedina Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I am having real trouble finding ground targets, even using FAC they illuminate the target using smoke but when pointing at the waypoint using TGP I still have problems finding them. I know that flying at 10,000ft can't be that easy to spot ground targets but I think using TGP shouldn't be that hard.

It is Cougar Point that had an issue (the chip that is the basis for the H67 and P67 motherboard chipsets) with one (1) transistor that over the timespan of 2 to 3 years caused a 5 to 15% risk of SATA2 controller failure. SATA3 controller unaffected, and no risk of data loss. For myself, I just put my SATA2 units on one each of my 4 SATA3 ports, and thus the issue will never affect me. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

You're not the master, but really the slave ;) Buy an I7xxx, a graphic card (one that can handle dx11 for future release.) more than 2 megs or RAM et voila;. You'll then find that sim amazing. tankaviator Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I am still having the left roll/left yaw issue with my CH rudder pedals. Also on the X 52 the slider is still being assigned to the throttle assignment. Looks like if I want actual rudder pedals I have to buy a new set? That is sad because this is the only sim this happens in. I am impressed with the program overall, but not the release version. I have been a professional software tester for years and this seems more like another beta to me (since there are still crashes, video tears, control issues, etc). This is just my professional opinion, personally I will still have fun despite these issues. I like the new features, but would have liked to have a beta/release candidate version with these changes where they could have been tested. Different companies/different release procedures.
