HDR problem

You may not notice the HDR difference, because blur effect, that was present in earlier builds, was removed. Look on the screens in attach. First - with HDR, second - without.

Oh, and here I am updating video card drivers on my laptop wondering why I don't have this HDR haze I see on the screenshots..

A question regarding HDR: I did some tests with and without HDR. I came to the question if it might be a bit over-intense. Even my start-screen is not black at the top and buttom anymore, but grey instead.

On the one hand I do like all the effects HDR brings, but at the same time it seems a bit overdone at some points.

Are the settings somehow adjustable by editing a specific file or do we have to choose to go with or without only?

You could try editing the HDR.fx by hand but it is as far from straightforward as you can get.

Edit:- spoke too soon, have a look at HDR.Lua C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Bazar\Effects\PostMotionEffect\options

EDIT2:- Backup first :)

Yeah, already noticed, opening the hdr.fx with Notepad++, that it is quite cryptic. Thanks for the hint to the hdr.lua. I'll have a look at it!

Nice find. Hope we can share some more settings between users. I too prefer the Beta Post Processing, although I think it could benefit from having some things like the blur/bloom turned down very slightly. I found the retail Post effects too dark and not soft enough.

heya, I know I already have my own thread on an issue involving HDR but I am interested in the HDR sun flare that was changed in beta4.

Is there a way to get the sun flare to look like it did in beta3?

If you are not sure about what the heck I am talking about I can post some screenshots.

You can restore the previous HDR effects with the HDR.fx attached. Place it in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Bazar\shaders\PostMotionEffect\HDR

Nate

I've done this but with my own hdr.fx that I got from my old beta 4 install. It doesn't seem to restore the blur feature for me though... Wish I could have that effect back because sometimes I don't run with any AA and the blur makes the game look less ugly.

Also mucked around with the 'bMag' in the hdr.lua and haven't seen any noticeable effect.

I will provide a screen shot shortly, maybe I'm failing to spot the difference but the blur should be pretty easy for me to spot.

Maybe it needs to be combined with the B4 hdr.lua? Or hasn't the lua-file changed at all?

I cross checked both the hdr.lua files for any differences and there were none what so ever.

Screen shot attached using 2x AA. I also noticed in beta 4 there was a haze.fx in the haze folder but in final the haze folder is empty, this have anything to do with it?

Dammit, now that I've started to tinker with it, I can't get it to work properly :(

Nate

:music_whistling: I cry innocence. I never fiddled with anything when I first put it in, just dropped the file in and I never saw the blur or the noticeable bloom effects.

Wouldn't let me attach it, would you like me to zip it up or post a particular section here?

What did you do to fix yours? I doubt it would be this but to get the file I reinstalled beta 4 since I still had the files. I forgot to install as administrator though, wonder if that might have affected the file at all.

Edit: Or possibly that I never launched after installing beta 4 so it never got a chance to compile any shaders or anything.

Shaders in release and Beta 4 are handled differently, there is no overlap, so it's not that.

My graphics.cfg had a different entry in those lines, once I matched yours it worked again.

Edit:- Silly question but....you are very sure you are placeing it in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Bazar\shaders\PostMotionEffect\HDR
