Very cool.. but is it me or does this thing seem to have a better angle of attack then the sim? I mean I'll have to take one up with a clean config and see how it performs like this. This A10 seemed very agile and a very fast roll rate compared to what we are used to.

Check this video out for a comparison between the sim's roll rate and the video you just watched. Looks pretty spot on to me.

It's not... that was the point of the video. There's an airspeed disparity, Grab had to fly faster in order to attain the roll rate the real A-10 was getting at 325 KCAS. Problem solved, however... roll rate has seemed to improve in general, and if necessary, spoiler input can give increased rates at a drag penalty. (Although the pilot is not directed to use spoilers during that maneuver in the demo...)

That was just roll rate at very fast speeds. Did you see that 360 degree turn he did? Our warning tone would be going off the whole time and we would have bled all out speed out easily.

At 1:18 he does a vertical roll for like 10 seconds. Don't think u can do that in DCS-A10.

Im no expert, but is it possible to compare like with like here with any accuracy from watching a video?

 

I watched the live action video - that A-10 doesn't appear to have all its underwing pylons?

Is it possible in the Sim to remove the pylons and their associated drag?

 

I presume (since its doing acrobatics) that the live action A-10 is not carrying any GAU-8 ammunition.

Is it possible in the Sim to do the same or does the Sim default to always carrying a full gun loadout and thus its associated weight.

 

What weight of fuel is the live action A-10 carrying?

We have no idea, so how can we fly the A-10 in the Sim with the same weight for comparison purposes?

you can have 0 bullet if you want

I see, misinterpreted the video. I never watched the end of the video, only the roll sections.

What about the titanium bathtub? If those hogs are not used in combat and just aerobatics for demo teams, they could remove the bathtub as well no? That thing weighs 544kg IIRC for crying out loud!!
