Hi:

I recently win a price in a programming concourse of my university and I wish to upgrade my old joystick but I'm not sure of what of this two buy.

Logitech G940 Force Feedback Joystick or the Saiteck X65 Pro

cause the Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog is much over my budget.

Which of this two you guys recommend me?

A friend of mine told me that it have a function like in the real choppers (is call trimer) and you can put the joystick in any pos and leave it there.

Is that true????

Oops, guilty of not reading carefully enough... just seemed _the_ obvious choice in the poll was omitted!

I have an X-65F and really like it. It has a few glitches that I am not pleased with(Programming software), but its construction is outstanding, and has more than enough buttons on it for A-10C.

It does take a little getting used to the whole Think-Fly thing rather than Think-move-fly that a conventional non-force sensing stick requires. By this I mean ultimately moving the stick should require little to no extra thought or time to move a stick in a certain direction. Eventually, your aircraft will just move without you putting extra effort to move the stick in the direction you want the aircraft to go in.

If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.

Is that true????

Yes that is true. it has force feedback and with the DCS-Blackshark if you push the trim button and move your stick forward and let go of the trim button, the stick will stay in that position as if its the central position.

Be aware though that you can't use curves or deadzones. Since curves and deadzones stay in the absolute center and not the new center the stick is in.

But this was not an issue for me. I play both A-10c and blackshark with this stick and hopefully VERY VERY soon il2 CLIFFS OF DOVER!!! That is hopefully a game where this stick will shine.

Because actually for high tech planes FFB is simply a minor addition. because of all the hydraulics involved it works like your power assisted steering in your car.

In WW2 crates and also microsoft flight simulator FFB is MUCH MUCH more notable. For instance if you start a roll and then level out HARD, if you don't pay attention, because of the momemtum the stick will flip hard to the other side!!! Also taking off your stick will shake. In IL2 and rise of flight if you go near stall speed the stick will become limp because there are no forces working on the airelons and elvators. Also with landing you will feel the stick be looser and thus you need to be more concentrated.

All in all forcefeedback in my opinion adds an extra dimension to flying. (prop planes!!)

For more high tech modern planes the difference isnt that notable. So if you only plan to play A-10c then maybe a cheaper stick is an option. If you want to fly alot of prop planes/bi-planes and the like then FFB is something you really will get a kick out of :)

The difference between an X65F and the TM Warthog is about 40 Euros.

But it's worlds apart from both, the G940 and the X65F.

Definitely worth saving more now than regretting a hasty decision.

Yup, I can't see how you can afford an x65f but couldn't wait a small amount of time and get a WH.

Well a full set of CH gear is light years ahead of and is less $ than these 2 choices in most parts of the world.. So if that applies to your neighborhood- it's a no-brainer.

Agreed. I'm setting up my CH setup now and am very impressed with it's quality. I got my full CH HOTAS with the CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals for under $300 shipped from Amazon.

I don't know how bad a X65 is, but trust me, after using a G940 for a year I know for sure that there can't be anything worse than that joystick and the company that makes them. I wish I waited a couple of months and used the 300 euro's I paid for it (plus some extra) for a TM Warthog. I still regret that.

Yes the complete setup is an awesome feature, I love having an HOTAS + rudder pedals, but the FFB slop in the joystick and the reversal bug in the throttle and rudder still makes this setup unbearable for the price they ask.

I've got 99 problems but my Ekran ain't one

I just stick with their mice....
