skouras Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 OK guys, first of all i have to say that i've already have many sticks in the past, but my favorite was for about 5 years the HOTAS COUGAR.:thumbup:jUST EXCELLENT.very easy setup very easy to calibrate very accurate and very realistic. So i just wanted to ask some questions about the latest product of thrustmaster.TM WARTHOG I'M going to buy it some time maybe next week so what is the first thing that i have to be careful of also i have read many threads that the T.A.R.G.E.T have many problems and it makes problems with the sim do i have to download some drivers or is just plug and play also is any manual calibration that user can do :book: if i have to download something what it is-- and also where i can found it. Thanks for the help and replys:) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]W10(64bit)Asus Rog Strix Z370-F - i7 8700K - Dark Rock Pro 4 - 16 giga ram Corsair vengeance 3000 - MSI RTX 2070 Super - Asus Rog Phobeus soundcard - Z906 Surround speaker - Track ir5 - HOTAS Warthog
Osirith Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Hello, first thing : you do not need to use the TARGET software with DCS A10, as the Warthog stick & throttle are directly reckognized with correct keys mapped by the sim. Using TARGET will only break this mapping, and although it could be possible to fully remap all the controls inside TARGET, it would be a waste of time unless you want to program some very specific action (that would not be a real control however). If you really need to change something to the mapping, best way to do it is to remap the control directly inside the sim options. That is how I added TrakIR control keys to the Warthog stick.
skouras Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) so i just plug and make my remaps from the sim thats it.... lets say i want my mic for zoom in zoom out thanks mate Edited March 19, 2011 by skouras [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]W10(64bit)Asus Rog Strix Z370-F - i7 8700K - Dark Rock Pro 4 - 16 giga ram Corsair vengeance 3000 - MSI RTX 2070 Super - Asus Rog Phobeus soundcard - Z906 Surround speaker - Track ir5 - HOTAS Warthog
Weltensegler Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 so i just plug and make my remaps from the sim thats it.... lets say i want my mic for zoom in zoom out thanks mate The friction control on the right doesn't have a use on the stick as far as I know...I use this as view ZOOM. I wouldn't change anything else since the mappings are the real thing and the whole HandsOnThrottleAndStick doesn't work if you remap. BTW You wont regret your purchase, it is the best stick I have ever flown. 4790K@4,6Ghz | EVGA Z97 Classified | 32GB @ 2400Mhz | Titan X hydro copper| SSD 850 PRO ____________________________________ Moments in DCS: --> https://www.youtube.com/user/weltensegLA --> WELD's cockpit: --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92274
Bullant Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) Warthog is brilliant, much better quality than the cougar (and I loved my cougar). No need to change anything when you plug it in, the sim will recognise it and configure it automatically (except that it will for some reason map the trim hat to the view commands ... don't ask me why. so you will need to remap these four commands). I use trackIR, and I also use the friction control on the right of the throttle as a zoom control for the cockpit view, works very well. nomdeplume Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) You can remap but it's probably better to not change default controls, but add instead. The MIC switch up and press don't have any function so you can utilise them if you want. Also the paddle switch on the stick isn't mapped by default, so it makes a handy modifier. In the controls configuration you can use the 'modifiers' button in the bottom row to add a button as a modifier. I have my zoom in set to (paddle switch + TMS UP) and (paddle switch + TMS DOWN), and I use the MIC button push in to reset to default. NVG gain I have on DMS UP/DOWN when used with the paddle. Snoopy Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 The trim hat if you have (trackIR) I changed totrim since it is default to looking around. The MIC press and up don't have a function. I am going to use up to toggle NVGs. And I use the "other" pinky switch on the grip (not the nose wheel steering button) to center trackIR and the friction knob on the throttle quad as zoom. v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website
andysim Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) yes the WH is worth every penny. Just the stick alone is a joy to fly with, NO deadzones, no floopyness like I had in my old x52. Just get the latest firmware drivers off the website and install them with the little program that comes with it. Joystick should be firmware 11 and the throttle should be firmware 20. Also the latest Target software lets you set the LED brightness even if you dont use it for mapping. Just out of intrest I use the Paddleswitch as a modifier and then you can assign buttons for zoom ect as its not used in the sim. Its also in the perfect place to use as a Trimmer switch if you fly the Ka-50 =) Edited March 19, 2011 by andysim

People call that the friction control because on the real jet, that's the throttle friction adjustment. "Tank! I need a program for a TM Warthog!"
