Does anybody know if the Standby Attitude Indicator can be re-caged? The tool-tip that appears when you mouse over its knob suggests that you can by doing a simultaneous mouse click and scroll wheel, but I cannot get it to work. The manual says the SAI is caged by "pulling" the knob, but I cannot find a way to do so.

I know the SAI is basically useless now since it becomes hopelessly out of alignment after just a few minutes of even mild manouvering, but wondered if caging and uncaging might help (as it should IRL).

Yes. I think you have to 'pull it out' and then twist it into the caged position - something tricky like that.

This is done by left click and hold, IIRC, and then turn the mouse wheel. Also, the knob has to be in the correct quadrant of its movement range to be able to be pulled (somewhere around the middle, i think).

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

yes, I had problems with this. The solution I found is that the horizontal line which is adjusted by the mouse scroll wheel needs to be in the center of the SAI. Then you can left click and hold to recage. You have to hold it for several seconds.

If it was my aircraft I would replace the SAI with a working one which doesn't drift so often. I can't imagine the real one is so bad.

After watching the latest video Wags put out, seems they adjusted it in one of these upcoming patches. Both it's error accumulation and it's modeling.

Anyway, yeah left click the knob and scroll your artificial aircraft back to the top of the gauge, then release. :)

I hope you are right because the SAI would be a nice feature to have to work correctly. It adds to the immersion when you are shot up and have to rely on it.

in 720p. Not only does it seem to stay free of errors, but it's logic when you roll is different, like it falls with gravity.

Saw the video, very nice.

Now off topic...what is the point of pit shadows without a pilot in there?

I think you'll get quite a bit more immersion with the shadows. I sure feel more like in a real aircraft looking at them.

a bit offtopic, but how would you realign the SAI and the HSI if they drifted ?

not off topic at all. You realign it by re-caging it, then uncaging it
