Speedbrake Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Does anyone know what if anything the paddle switch on the Warthog joystick does? I know it isn't listed on any of the setups I have seen. I'm thinking of seeing if it can be programed for active pause. :pilotfly:
EtherealN Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 It's a bonus, not used on A-10C. AFAIK it's used on the F-16, and TM added it to the Hog stick in case you want to use it with an F-16 sim. MTFDarkEagle Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Affirmative: it's from the F-16. You could use it as active pause, or you could make it a modifier, so you can have an entire new set of controls under the modifier :) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Succellus Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Or you can leave it alone :D I use it as a modifier and reprogramed the pinky button. So now instead of 2 active position it has 4. Speedbrake Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 Thanks guys! Gee, great idea for TIR center or active pause. I will have to think about it.
redtail Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 i use it as a modifier, so gear down is paddle plus radio switch down. gear up is paddle plus radio switch up. zoom in = paddle + radio fwd. zoom out = paddle + radio aft ~Redtail~ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Rainmaker Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Someone correct me if I am wrong here.... I thought someone had posted that the paddle in the real thing was to disengage SAS and revert to manual reversion? I know it still kind of leaves us an extra button, but I thought it did have a real purpose.

I know it still kind of leaves us an extra button, but I thought it did have a real purpose. Talking about a different paddle. The A-10C HOTAS doesn't have a pinkie paddle attached to the stick as seen on the F-16 and on the Warthog HOTAS. The paddle that disengages the SAS is lower. Using an image from another post here at ED as it shows the stick. I suppose someone could use that paddle for that mode. Rainmaker Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 That's what I was referring to. TM would have had to have probably really changed the design around to match the paddle switch in the current A-10, to the point that it doesn't look like a realistic possibility. So they took what they had from the cougar and ran with it. I can fully understand their reason for having to do so. And with the limited use, I also agree that it's basically an extra switch because of this.
LawnDart Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 They didn't exactly take what they had and ran with it... Aside from the fact that the handle itself is almost identical between the F-16C and A-10C, there's not much that's inherited from the Cougar's handle. The material is different, the button and trigger forces are different. It even comes apart differently and has different electronics. The paddle switch was an easy "add-on" for any Cougar users (or F-16 pit builders) wishing to upgrade their Cougars with the new handle. I've done a search, but I've found conflicting info, and since this my have changed through different Betas,I'll ask here.......Can I change controls through ingame options?Or, Do I need to Delete my joystick LAU.file and write a new one? Any help would be fantastic,THX Patrick
sobek Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I've done a search, but I've found conflicting info, and since this my have changed through different Betas,I'll ask here.......Can I change controls through ingame options?Or, Do I need to Delete my joystick LAU.file and write a new one? Do i understand you correct in that you have carried over your profiles from since the beta versions? If this is the case, you should probably try to delete them and create new ones, as there are some problems that can be caused by using old lua files Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Phantom88 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Sobek,Thank You for the reply. It was a case of User[Me :)] Error.I was incorrectly adding my Paddle switch to "Switches" instead of the right place "Modifiers"in the control options menu, It's very simple now!! :) The TM WartHog is fantastic!! It's Good,Fast.........$Not so Cheap!$ :) .....but it's NOT cheaply made either,I believe you get what you pay for in this instince. Thx for your help! Patrick
