BTTW-DratsaB Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 hmm how to avoid politics...not very easy. Predictable, but I think this is pretty amusing, the chest beating reaction from the American public and media. They're celebrating like it's the end of WW2 and Hitler is dead. I guess if it makes people feel better about the tens of thousands of killed civilians and being involved in an unwinnable quagmire like Afghanistan for a short while, then why not... sorcer3r Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 9+ years of justified payback has finally come to frution (at least the part about getting HIM). Let's hope that no one yearns for revenge for the thousands of civilian casualties in Afghanistan. [sIGPIC]http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b582/sorcerer17/sorcf16-b_zpsycmnwuay.gif[/sIGPIC]
vortex360 Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 But this is not changeing the fact that osama bin laden is dead. cheers Glad to say I've never cheered for someone's death. The people on TV cheering look so ridiculous. 1
combatace Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Let's hope that no one yearns for revenge for the thousands of civilian casualties in Afghanistan. True because more civilians lost their lives in Afghanistan than those lost in 9/11 attack. Speed Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) While it's true this is nothing more than a symbolic victory, in the middle east, in a battle of hearts and minds and media, one symbolic win or defeat can win or lose you 100 battles... I don't know enough about them to know how this will play out. But I think that the people of the middle east have demonstrated (literally) with their pro-freedom movements, that the time of Osama was coming to an end anyway. The US (and Europe too) is winning the war on terror with its internet, Hollywood, music, and ideals. Seems most young middle-eastern people just want to live in a more free, secular society. Let's hope that no one yearns for revenge for the thousands of civilian casualties in Afghanistan. They still do, thankfully, as the Afghan people HATE the Taliban who, just as a small example, rounded up women whose husbands had accused of being unfaithful and machined-gunned them before a soccer match. The Taliban have an 11 percent (last poll I read) approval rating in Afghanistan. Did you know the Taliban cause the vast majority of Afghan civilian casualties? I bet not. So yea, let's hope that the Afghans yearn for revenge for the thousands of civilians killed, because that is exactly what happened in Iraq that marked the turning point in that conflict. I'm not saying that they love NATO, but there are alot of them who yearn exactly what you fear, and correctly point the fingers at the real murders and oppressors. All in all, the Afghans want to just live their lives and be left alone, just like any people. Yuya6104 Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 this a fact cant be ignored or flamed it is the truth as much you hate it is true.. when Russian invaded afgainstain in mid 1970's an to late 1980's russia was very sucessful till americans actually secertly got involed an trained terrorists an supplyed them weapons an stingers MANPADS to combat the CCCP.. honestly the Russians were doing all of us a favor geting rid of Terrorists an bin Laden.. now if usa never secertly got involved help the afgainstain when russians were there then september 11th wouldnt happen an there wouldnt been a iraq an afgainstain no bin Laden.. but since bin Laden dead..Boberro is right there be another bin Laden that rise up take is place there will be no change.

ErichVon Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) They have been doing the revenge thing ever since The Crusades and USA was not even involved, then. Suspect no less after the 1st Iraq war. Always be looking over our shoulder for the next 1,000 years or so. Most you people are too young to remember the airline hijackings of the 1960's and 1970's and airport bombings in New York City even then and why they took out the airport rented lockers. hassata Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 The burial at sea thing is strange though. Someone told me about it and I said bullshit until I read it here. I would have thought the images would have been shown, just as with Saddam's sons, even if they had to patch them up. Apparently there were witnesses to Pakistani troops removing the wreckage of a helicopter. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Speed Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Yea, I'm surprised he was living such a high-profile existance. There is no way that at least some of the Pakistanis did not know he was there. Abbottabad is only about 30 miles from Islamabad, not 60 miles as most news sources are stating. Google Earth it. And he wasn't exactly living in a cave, now, was he? AlphaOneSix Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Cave or mansion, what is the difference? There is no difference, he was holed up somewhere surrounded by people that were loyal to him. I rather doubt he was heading out to McDonald's every night to grab a bite to eat. I can't see how being physically located in a mansion is any more high-profile than being physically located in a cave, all other things being equal.
sungsam Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) What a comfortable death and Bary ! No one has proof of it ! :smilewink: Its sound like theatrically directed. Its well known Osamas illeness has left him weak, he only remained as ideological leader of alkaida or the big brain. Now the new leader to follow must prove his power to the organisation, perhaps initiating a new circle of terrorism action maybe ? :( I hope not ! Edited May 2, 2011 by sungsam DCS F16C 52+ w JHMCS ! Feuerfalke Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 In a strongly controlled garrisson-town? ..... That US forces have first class access I guess or not ? Well, officially Pakistan is "working together" with the US against terrorism. :music_whistling: If you check the news regulary, US-aircraft and helicopters were flying over Pakistan for quite a while already. So far, they just concentrated on a few miles around the border-area.
