My startup procedure

I'm just slightly confused. Do most people turn on the CDU (to have it start aligning) before or after one of the Engine AC Generators kick in? Or is it preference?

 

In paulrkiii's Checklist (apparently taken from real world,) it shows CDU and EGI power ON before engine start..

 

10. APU switch - START (or signal for external air). L2

11. L-FUEL PRESS light - Check off.

12. APU generator switch - PWR.

13. AAP: R4

a. CDU switch - ON.

b. EGI switch - ON.

14. CDU - Set for desired alignment.

15. VHF/AM - TR. L4

a. Frequency - verified, Set as req.

16. VHF/FM - TR. L6

a. Frequency - verified, Set as req.

 

Derelor's checklist shows CDU and EGI power ON after Left engine is up to speed and APU generator is OFF.

As far as I could see, as soon as you have APU running, you have CDU power supply ... Then why should we wait more? This is how I do it myself to start these 4 mn align.

Yup, turn that cdu on asap. You could even ask for ground power to turn it on earlier.

Turning EGI + CDU on AFTER engine is up, is just from earlier patch states and hasn't been brought to date.

RALT = Right ALT

"Pos 1" is the HOME key on german keyboards.

I will try to release the next version of the document also in Kindle format.

As far as now I have been using only Startup/Taxi/Takeoff but I am confident all of them are of the same excellent quality!

 

There is one question although concerning the Fire Detect Bleed Air Leak Test switch on the Auxiliary Lightning Control Panel - this test is missing in the Startup checklist - is there any specific reason for it? or it just escaped in between all this tasks which must be done to start this bird ;)

 

I assume it could be performed just after cockpit inidcation lights test.

Just registered this morning to say thanks for this. I just installed this(Steam) last night and was trying to write down everything the trainer was telling me. This will make it a whole lot easier.

BTW. I ordered the CH HOTAS yesterday(should be here Fri) so I'm sure I'll have to wait for that to come in before serious flight can resume.

Since 1111, I've been starting the Inverter first, before the battery, because of that blaring warning. Silence is golden. Anyway, I read somewhere that the battery warning was a bug.

you are correct it is a bug....but inverter before battery real world is a no no...

the first time I pressed that button last night, I was worried that it turned off the the alarm and that I wouldn't hear it again when I needed it, haha

I guess the only good thing about the master warning is it tells you that your battery is good.
