I looked at it. You made it 5.75 wide originally i would estimate. The hole spacing, and size is wrong. The white back lighting areas are wrong. Size type and placement of fonts is wrong.Your diamentions are still incorrect this is a very complicated panel. You may wish to start off on some thing a bit more simple like the Stall warning panel

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Wow Stang, you got the fonts wrong and the hole size! :D What were you thinking, some of you guys take getting everything correct WAY too far. I understand doing something right, but so what if your off by 1/2 an inch. It's a game, I'd leave it the way it is, it looks good to me.....unless you want everything perfect.

EDIT: I thought we were here to help each other... :(

STANG asked for commits in his other thread he posted againg here so i replied here so the boys would not have to search for the answer no problem I'll keep my mouth shut

You're knowledge is valuable, please don't disengage. It is really hard to judge tone and intent via text alone. I know at times I have mis-interpreted some comments as snide before when they where not intended that way.

For those posting your work it is important that you state what you are going for. There are many different goals for personal cockpits. There are those who are aiming for a dimensionally accurate panels and some who are designing them to fit the space they have. Some strive for intense accuracy down to the color of the back lighting. If you are not clear and post something that is close to accurate it stands to reason those who have additional knowledge on accurate will assume you want it and chime in.

By the time you guys figure the panel dims out I will have an entire pit built and working! Lol

Agreed.

thats why I work with estimatives :)

lol, true but somebody had to figure those panel dims out first

Deadman has already generously given a lot of good information here, just search the forums. Not everything will be spoon fed, sometimes you have to take what you know, and derive the rest from it. And yes, you definitely have to stop tweaking at some point and say this is close enough.

When and what did you ask me about crew chief stuff? I'm not a CC but I have helped people out before and will do in the future. If it was in the last few months, I have been moving and probably forgot. But I have helped a lot of people with answers about air force stuff. What did you want to know?

I don't know if he is making a scale pit or just a pit in general. I have a general pit and could care less about if something is perfect, he and other may be different.

Stang,

5.75 total width seems about right, thats almost precisely 146mm

about the thickness, I read it somewhere in this forums, but right now I just can't find it... lol sorry

I believe the material is up to you, and to your budget. acrylic seemed about right for me, it manages backlighting just great when sanded, and should be relatively easy to cut!

not sure if it helps :P

There are several sources of knowledge and you guys have pissed this one and at least one other off but i think you have figured that out by now. Enough of this there really is not any thing else to say.

I'm grumpy sometimes, but... arrogant, mocking, irritating, and Incorrect. Hell, you could have added some more adjectives... Thanks Deadman!

On a serious note: I will have access to a full A-10A simulator this weekend, and I can measure parts if someone needs dims. Let me know what you want if anything,

If we could get the *depth* of the MFCD bezels that would be super. That's just a hard dim to figure from 2D pics.

Thanks Flim,

Colin

Hi. Do you think you could get the diams of the handles of those 4 push-pull switches at the bottom right of the Fuel Panel? I'm a bit confused about those. Thanks much,

Colin

They are the basically the same seat, at different angles and some have a few different little things added.

ok, finally some (little) progress.

while my GGG usb board doesn't arrive, I'm wiring my switches to an old usb joystick wich has 4 axis, 12 buttons and a POV hat.

I finally bought the acrylic plate, though I only found 3mm. guess I'll sand the base plate down until it's 1,5mm thick. the light plate is fine with 2 plates of 3mm each. base plate is gonna be 146mm wide, and light plate 144mm. this is the most accurate approach I can handle, achieved this measure after recalculating all dimensions.

platesvz.jpg

now my only doubt is about the width. didn't find any specific measures for the LASTE panel, so I did it based on pics. right now the base plate have 49mm, while the light plate is 47mm, altough I have no idea if this is any accurate.

anybody knows?

thanks!

Rafael

Hi Guys

Check the bottom of my picture page. I have some shots of the real thing with a measuring tape on them. Let me know if you need any other Aces Seat dimensions...I have all of them

See HERE

Oh, almost forgot...there is .75 inches between the side of the seat and the side panels, so just add 1.50 to the seat width and you have the width between the side panels in the A-10C and the F-16.

Stang, I would also really like the plans for a seat if it's possible. I have just finished my CNC lately and it is waiting and ready to do one :)

hey stang, thanks, but those measures i already know, im looking for the unique lets say lenght, (if the 146mm is width). im using 49mm for LASTE panel height, but thats guessing. each panel has its own height, those are unique measures.

thanks again

Rafael
