Bombs default settings

There are many bombs with CCIP default setting, if i got CCRP mode with my master mode and drop bomb with CCRP and bomb default is CCIP, is there any difference if i dont change bomb settings to CCRP and drop it with CCIP settings in CCRP mode?

I tested MK82 and doesen't touch any bomb settings, dropped it with CCRP mode and allways hit. So i assume you don't must change bomb setting to CCRP

CCRP is generally for targets in advance, CCIP is more for when you need a bomb dropped right away, usually is more effective against moving targets (in the case of non-laser-guided munitions), though is more dangerous.

Honestly the one that annoys the **** out of me are Mavericks. There's no 'CCRP / CCIP' mode of delivery for a guided missile, but I'm sitting there going "OKAY FIRE ZE MISSILES!" and nothing happens, because even though there's *NO POINT* to having them in either mode, they absolutely refuse to fire unless I'm in the right mode. And I'm never in the right mode. So after trying to fire for a good five seconds I'm desperately smashing my mode switch before I lose my window...

Interestingly, and I never tested this, it seemed that -H models only fire in CCRP and -Ds in CCIP. I think.

I just know it makes me angry :/

Just cycle the DSMS profile, it's faster and 100% due to profile setting up the correct mode.

IIRC you can use either, the profile is just for what the default mode is when you pick the weapon. Somebody correct me if wrong.

Looks like that way at least it works without changes, weird that there is option to change that setting if it is useless, but good to know, one more thing less to remember to do when fying this ugly beast :joystick:

You could set the profile up in the DSMS much like the same for the gbu-12/10 changing it's auto laze or time. Changing the default to ccrp instead of ccip. It will push to ccrp when you cycle the profile using the dms as that activates the auto profile instead of manually selecting it via the DSMS. I always do this as part of my startup while waiting for alignment

The difference really applies to how you select the weapon.

1) Select the weapon manually in DSMS, use mode switch on stick to select mode, pickle.

2) Select the weapon profile on DSMS and have the appropriate mode etc automatically applied.

The nice thing with the latter is that you can set up multiple profiles for the same weapon - say you are carrying cluster bombs. During startup you might then set up two profiles with a different bomblet deployment altitude. So when you are then in the target area you don't have to re-set it if you find that your settings aren't appropriate - you just select the profile that fits. Can do the same to have profiles for SNGL in CCIP and another for RPL SNGL 2 in CCRP or whatever. No need to spend the time while over the target area.

Bomblet release altitude is set on the inventory page when the weapon itself is loaded. Don't think you can do that in a profile.

Think he was referring to the alt. at which the bomblets leave the case. That's what it sounds like to me.
