Patch vs. Full

Could anyone who has tried both patching and downloading the full .08 post re their experience?

The patch (from a clean 1.1.0.7 install) and the Full 1.1.0.8 are identical as far as I could see.

Probably been asked before but whats the easiest way to do a clean install while saving key bindings and is it possible to do so without using up an activation?

 

Not worried about pilot log particularly (haven't started a campaign yet due to RL!)

Deinstall the application using the tools windows provides. Reinstall the application. Done.

 

The configuration files are no longer stored inside the game directory but are now located at user/saved games/DCS Warthog. Only when this folder is deleted, you will loose your configuration.

not sure if they are identical. i installed patch 1.1.0.8 from a clean 1.1.0.7 install, but i dont see new options like debrieding menu on assign commands list

Read the recommended install info. They recommend that you delete everything in "user\saved games\DCS Warthog" folder. This is the only way to make sure that every new setting and config is correct.

If you migrate the .07 Input folder (username/saved games/dcs), you will loose out on the new bindings. Check here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=74737

Mah experience:

 

When I applied the new patch onto my existing 1.1.0.7 install, the files I had modified did not get overwritten (appropriate behavior, btw).

 

I uninstalled, deleted the directory to kill the modified files and then installed the full 1.1.0.7 followed by the new patch. Strangely, the patch installer said the 1.1.0.7 patch was required. :huh: I applied the previous patch. The installer was happy and I followed up with the new patch. Ok. I don't know what happened there. Could be user error. Dunno.

 

This morning, I uninstalled again and installed the full 1.1.0.8 install and now all is well.

Aquike question ? I have just purchased the uk retail version of the sim,

How do i tell which version number it is ?, I ask because i see there are several patches available. I downloaded the what i thought was the 1st patch 1.1.0.6, but when i try to install it i get a message telling me 1.1.0.5 needs to be installed. I have had a look around here but cant see a patch of that number. Please advise

I saw that about the 07 patch too. I just figured it was an old message and ignored it, opting for the 08 full install only. It eliminated almost any problem (Stutters, tree textures) and everything works great. Still seeing a few distant tree textures out of place but it is certainly a lot better.

Where can I find this .08 full install, I can't find any of the patches before 1.1.0.6 and am currently running 1.1.0(Thanks Steam) Haha.

:) Yeah, even a point in the right direction for the earlier patches, everything pre 1.1.06 would be great.

Mission Editor>Credits should show the version number.

I did a clean wipe of windows and tried to install this game again... like 5 texture errors... :ranting: I wish it would just work!

 

I can live with it though. This game is too good to be without :pilotfly:

Do you mean you received those errors during installation? If so, you are missing some files. You can use uTorrent to only download those files.

FROM WHAT I CAN SEE,THE RETAIL BOX VERSION OF DCS-A10C IS 1.1.0.7.IF YOU LOOK IN THE REGISTRY IT WILL SAY VERSION 5. IF YOU LOOK IN THE ACTUAL RETAIL DISK YOU WILL SEE IT CONTAINS THE FILES FOR 6 AND 7.
