I'm going to concentrate on ILS stuff this weekend, someone else posted a good vid on how to do this today, so with your missions and the vids out there it will make for a fun weekend.

Glad to hear it Zeke, I hope you enjoy the challenge.

Just done Senaki The lower altitude airfields are hardest due to fog;)

And the Batumi one again with wind and turbulence:helpsmilie:

How about making it interesting. A race

RV with tanker (easy as he is 2 miles out in front at 14000), fill to FULL then ILS to land and vacate runway at senaki.

I managed 16 mins but sure someone can beat that especially as I mistuned the ILS initially.

(hope you don't mind me modding your Senaki miz Cibit).

Anyone manage this first time ?

I'm proud to say, I did! And the really soupy Batumi hardcore one too :pilotfly:

Those were ridiculous minimums, btw! Thanks for the great mission.

I've never flown in anything like that before! Not even close on the first try. LOL

All those clouds brought my poor GTS 250 to its knees though, but I have a 460 GTX on the way and hopefully that will help out enough for me to keep practicing.

I enjoy these missions, very good practice... still a bit ropey so plenty more practice in order...

Having got the nack of AAR I had to try the race to the tanker mission. Track attached, 14m30 secs. Might be a bit of controversy though...the tanker wouldnt tell me topped off and ready to go, and just kept disconnecting me. The tanks appeared full so I decided to make a break for the ILS.

Glad people are getting use from these. Obviously they are very simple in production no triggers or zones just dynamic weather and some planes , I will do a separate mission for every airport with ils but if anyone wants something specific made just ask:)

I enjoyed it too, and this got me involved in using the mission editor for the first time to add some layers of difficulty to such a point I crashed every time: crosswind landing by a stormy night!

Well, I dropped the night and some clouds and I can make it but not thanks ILS! I still need to see the runway at least for one minute before the final's dance steps.

But I know I really miss something when I look at the HUD and realize that this would be all I could rely on with less visibility... What am I supposed to do with a TVV pointing a few hundred meters from where I'm supposed to go? I know I have to dig manuals to get that strait! that's just where I am right now and I like the challenge.

As a related point, I had a first, quick and dirty, try at Prepare'ing the mission to configure VHF for Batumi so that I would not have to do that every time and I got that working but ILS and TACAN are not restored as expected... ?

Here too, RTFM :book:, I know, but some times it's too much reading! I don't feel the urge for things that go boom but I can't just keep reading, so I go boom myself for a change :pilotfly:

Landed at Batumi on first attempt. That's some insane weather, and I'm glad my computer had no issues. Fun times!

Nice one, looked like you were topped off to me. Now try it without having Senaki in your HUD (EGI Divert) and using Tacan & ILS info only. By the way, the reason you are disconnecting from the tanker is that you are sitting too high on him. Try and maintain the wing bulge on the boom at the top of your canopy and all will be fine.

p.s. Nice ground avoidance on the hills, I saw baro 2000' & Radio 150 at one point. Lol.

Hi Druid,

Interesting about the the height on the tanking, I do find it easier when I can see everything out of the front window, but I will try it a bit lower and see how that goes. Apparently there is a bug with that though, so Im not convinced my position is the cause.

Certainly my instrument approach was a bit ropey and wouldnt pass an IR examination!, I dont think I was helped by having the airfield on the EGI though, I actually flew a rough sort of DME arc procedure 10 miles out, so I was certainly concentrating on the HSI and not the HUD. As you can see when I came off the tanker I almost immediately turned away from the airfield onto 270, that was my downwind leg, so I was not homing on the EGI.

I watched the track in TACVIEW and never saw anything like that radalt, so unless my memory has completely deserted me perhaps there is something wrong with your track playback?

I will probably fly it again soon, as it is very good training, besides Im not overly happy with my landing on that one. Not helped by the approach lights though, see my other thread on that one! I think I could knock another minute or so off if I didnt have the trouble with the tanker calls.

BTW I was unable to play your track, and its about 2mb, seems very large? Maybe my download got corrupted though.

Yeh, don't know why my track is so large & unusable maybe its because I have 3 screens in eyefinity. On the track playback of yours I could just make out trees as you flew over a hill at just below 2000ft. Will have to take another look but pretty sure Rad Alt almost bottomed out too.

I maintained the tanking picture as mentioned and took all fuel without any disconnects. Try it & let me know.

Made it in to Batumi on my first try, brain farted on my HOTAS mic keys so couldnt get a hold of ATC and get the QFE. Good thing I was solo. :megalol:

Attached the track if anyone wants to watch/critique it.

Hi Druid,

Your advice about flying a little lower was good. Not getting any disconnects now untill Im fully topped off. And it is just a slight bit lower that seems to do it, maybe a couple of feet. Thanks. Got times down to 13min41secs but stopped now as developing bad habits flying the ILS at 340 kts!

Had to go around on the first try at Batumi, but nailed it the second time around.

Very disorienting, not to mention downright scary, when on final and hoping the lights will materialize out of the fog, preferably in the right place..

I did fly your last mission today and landed without any difficulty. The very first missions you posted here, which I used to practice instrument landings, made me really fall in love with flying in bad weather conditions. Thank you Cibit

Cibit,

I am trying out building my own weather minimums tracks and if you would, could you please give me your Weather settings for these tracks?

ex)cloud density , thickness, fog, thickness etc.

Just if you could give me a ideas for very low minimumns and what options would allow me to bring them down and up.

I ask bc its hard to go back and forth and see what they are. Thanks.,
