Welcome back to flight simming. You are in for some fun. There are so many great people that will help you whenever you need it.

I am glad you have the hardware to run the program. The X52 is just fine if you are getting back into this hobby. I would recommend, as others have, a good set of rudder pedals but since you have a twist rudder the Track IR is a must. I used to be one that believed it was not a necessary piece of hardware. Now I have one on standby if my primary breaks. I will not fly without it.

You can look at my specs to see what I have. I am sold 100% on the TM Warthog. One has to fly with it to understand. Good luck and ask lots of questions but most of all, HAVE FUN!

Although I agree, CH Products have their own faults... the axes on CH sticks are incredibly "clicky" at neutral, and feedback is floppy at best. Their buttons, however, are incredible. I have used my CH Pro Throttle for 2.5 years absolutely non-stop with no complaints about the buttons. The stick I've built uses the buttons from a CH stick as well. They're tough.

Again, thanks all for the welcoming posts. I need to get my feet wet first before I drop hundreds on additional equipment. I looked into TrackIR and I'm sold, it's obviously a whole new level of immersion... I'd love to join a squad if anyone is looking for a new member!

I'm new too, just got A10 today and am now berating myself for not getting it on release or at beta stage. I was initially worried about performance issues but it runs smooth with decent (50s)fps on high settings on my quad core set-up.

I did what everybody says not what to do and jumped in straight away to the quick start (freeflight/air) just to get a feel and wow it's good. Piloting skills not so much- first landing collapsed the gear and second slightly better with just burst tyres.

Then a spent a few hours mapping my x-52pro and setting up TrackIR...

Anyway better get back to it and work through the training missions properly :) I predict a very busy weekend stuck in front of the PC.

I am also new to A-10C but have flown FSX, and X-Plane for years and love combat sims but have not liked any since jane's usaf. I jumped in and played around a little just setting up graphics, controls and squeezed off a few rounds.

I am currently in what i call ground school, I am reading the entire manual and practising what i have learned over and over to master the basics of just flying the aircraft before trying to tackle the CDU and other weapon systems.

I found these training mission very helpful. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=62992
