Revvin Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 It gives you a big hit to framerate but it looks absolutely superb. The textures were great anyway but with this patch and the texture pack it really makes things look so much more lifelike in the tones of colours in your surroundings, the lighting, HDR etc.

I hope they fail miserably.

RSharpe Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 It's the other way around. Steam pulled Crysis 2 of their distribution because EA broke some terms. That's if you believe EA's PR, and think that somehow none of this has anything to do with Origin. They're using a technicality, that never stopped them from selling on Steam before, in order to gain leverage on their own competing service.
XarBat Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Where is the patch that makes the gameplay not suck? 1
Irregular programming Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 ^^ good question. I give it a maximum of 2 days before people once again start telling ED that they should use Cryengine in DCS. :D I use the cryengine as firmware in my coffeemaker.
sobek Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 I use the cryengine as firmware in my coffeemaker. Does your coffee look any better after the update? Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
hassata Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 Mine does, but it takes twice as long to make the coffee. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sobek Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 As long as it doesn't freeze up. ;) Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

Irregular programming Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Does your coffee look any better after the update? You haven't seen real coffee untill you've had it served through a tripple buffered tessellation pipeline.
Gonzo01 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) Does your coffee look any better after the update? Why yes it does. And I add just a touch of SLI and Multi GPU processing because I hate drinking my coffee black. When I say black, I do not mean sRGB black. I mean fullly calibrated SpectraView II DICOM black. Oh and it taste good too. Pure Jamacan Blue Mountain PeaBerry whole bean. :drink:. I think I can say without a doubt that good coffee starts with the freshness of the been and the hardware (technology) used to makes it. Good coffee is all about the extraction of the Crema (oil) from the bean. See here is an example where technology can improve the quality (I mean taste) of something. Actually Sobek you raise an interesting question. Is it true that DirectX11 by itself is no faster than DirectX9 maybe even slower, and if so why are all the new DirectX11 games that come out running so fast? Edited July 9, 2011 by Gonzo01
Gonzo01 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Is the use of DirectX11 tied to the use of SLI and multi GPU processing?

hassata Posted July 9, 2011 Author Posted July 9, 2011 God-image if Hitler has listened to Galland and allowed development and use of the 262 as a fighter and not as a bomber. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) The deal with the 262 really is the relative ease with which it could engage bomber fleets. If you can make 30mm passes on bombers at 200mph faster than what the escort flights can do... You are as close to invincible as it's possible to be when flying into a formation that packs a couple hundred 50-cals. :P Regarding Dx11, we shouldn't stare ourselves blind at effects made in "short-range" engines. It's not feasible to have those kinds of effects in a game that needs the view ranges of a simulator like DCS, with or without Dx11. Impact Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 What a shame DX11 is not being used for PC flight simulators yet. That A10 looked really strange, and it had twin 30mm cannons? And that F14/15 Tomeagle? And that Tornadoharrier? ------=:: I FLY BLEIFREI ::=------
aaron886 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 It's not feasible to have those kinds of effects in a game that needs the view ranges of a simulator like DCS, with or without Dx11. Procedural algorithms and efficient levels of detail. It's not impossible.
